it lit up again over the sierra, northeast california, northern sacramento valley. probably see a repeat performance today tuesday sunshine. though not too much fog. there's some there. but we had more yesterday. more sun today. it'll still be nice. we're looking at 60s, 70s and 80s. all right. sal is here and hopefully things are quiet. but you never know. let's ask him. >> yeah, we do have a truck accident, steve. northbound 680 at livorno road. and this one is a jackknife rig. it's blocking all the northbound lanes of 680. and you can see traffic is now backing up from as far back as stone valley road, which is a significant backup. chp tells us it's going to be out there for at least a couple of more hours. so this is going to be a problem for you if you're driving from anywhere. san ramon, danville, trying to get up to walnut creek south down 680 is not affected. but northbound 680 is. and we're going to keep an eye on this. also looking at the bay bridge triple a traffic camera, you will see the traffic is moving along okay. if you are driving there no problem

going into the sacramento valley means it's fairly deep so have a much thicker cloud that means it able to missed out a lot more. so you have a little bit of measurable rain. for the last two mornings we have done this. rain along the coast and in the east bay hill so as to look under the clouds. half moon bay, rain, pacifica, san francisco, berkeley, just continuous missed, over time adds up and maybe you get hundredth of an inch of rain because it's not evaporating every thing seems damp when you get out into it to just be ready for that tomorrow morning. a minor factor in this forecast anytime it's measurable it is a big deal. daytime highs tomorrow. even though cloud will be hide spread in the morning by the afternoon it melts back to the immediate coast and city and there will be more sunshine tomorrow than anything else. and the temperatures tomorrow will be identical to where you were today. which is a lot warmer than yesterday but today and tomorrow pretty much the same which means we are going to the low 80s for the inland valleys. still below average. 79 will be the daytime hi

it's a deeper marine layer and it's going to make its path known all the way in towards that sacramento valley you'll wake up saturday morning to overcast skies and some cooler temperatures tonight. yes. as mike was alluding to 48 degrees overnight in santa rosa, the inland areas in the tri valley have not dipped below 70 degrees for overnight lows. for the past four days, so 60 degrees. that's some good sleeping weather. 60 in san jose. here's our satellite imagery and what i've been watching all night. is this right here? more of a westerly onshore push tomorrow 10 to 20mph. that will keep the smoke from the park. fire over in chico, away from the bay area. but as i take a look at our smoke forecast, our computer models do allude to the fire plume trying to encroach the bay area over the weekend. now we will have some breezy conditions on saturday, so hopefully that will keep our air quality on the decent side, but it should invade the sacramento valley. we'll have to keep a watchful eye on that. the low to the north will merge with the low to the south. the end result is some welcome coolin

but, going out the window means it is going out past sacramento and going north through the sacramento valley. so tomorrow morning is going to be another one of those days where sacramento wakes up to a marine layer, that means it is particularly robust, that means we are all waking up to gray skies again tomorrow. do you remember how misty it was today? we can pick up a couple hundreds of an inch of rain. and the marine layer was full, it was high enough to get far inland and i want to explain how it does that, it is because of this unique set up of the atmosphere. look at today's numbers, 60s in concord, 77 in san jose. even if the marine layer is coming in just as far tomorrow as it did today, we are going to warm up a little bit more in the afternoon because the cloud will dissipate more by the time we get to the afternoon tomorrow. we will see more blue skies tomorrow and you are going to feel the warm up as a result. so instead of being in the upper 60s tomorrow, you will go back to the 80s. look at livermore, 82. 82 on altamont pass. 79 degrees in san jose and 71 in redwood city. this

air and that higher humidity is reaching its way over into northern california in the northern sacramento valleyhere the park fire continues to burn. and this cooling effect and the additional humidity in the air is helpful. now, this is a massive fire. so there's not going to be a dramatic improvement in the containment of the fire just overnight because of the weather conditions. but the weather conditions have improved. now you notice the smoke being carried generally in an easterly or northeasterly direction away from the bay area. some of that smoke did work its way back into the bay area yesterday, because some shifting of the upper upper level winds, but that smoke is not having an effect on our air quality right now. you can see all the green dots indicating good air quality, and a few yellow dots indicate indicating moderate air quality. so as long as the upper level wind flow near the park fire continues in its current direction, we will probably not have many concerns about that smoke affecting our air quality. now, what is affecting our weather quality is this vigorous onshore flow.
