extend the sunset date for the advisory committee to october 1, 2020 and require the committee to recommend changes to its structure and doubts. duties. >> the pedestrian safety advisory committee was enacted in 2002. it was the first and still is the own committee dedicated to pedestrian's safety. we have division zero coalition, but that's made up of mostly city departments. although, over the years it has had many iterations, peacing act is as relevant today as it was 17 years ago. in order to strengthen the peace act, this legislation requires that within six months, peace act will submit to the board, recommendations on possible changes to their structure or duties. and the voice of the pedestrians among all street users must remain strong and at the forefront as they are the ones most impacted. we must all be committed to the vision zero and i'm thankful on the peace act for their dedication. i look forward to collaborate stronger policies and get us to zero. so thank you to my cosponsors, supervisors hainey, ronanr,n and martin and furer. this is passed unanimously. please call 29 and 30. >> items 20 and 30 together are two motions to approve the treas

in the reauthorization, secretary chao this summer established a 22 member safety oversight and certification advisory committee to advise the department on policy-level topics related to certification including organization designation authority or oda. the reauthorization also require the faa to establish an oda office within the aviation safety organization to ensure consistency in oda oversight functions throughout the agency. we formally established the oda office in march. the 2018 act requires the faa to reviewing these plans from airlines. in june we also directed the arac to evaluate a reauthorization requirement for airlines to install secondary cockpit barriers in new passenger aircraft. the faa is committed to implementing congress' mandate for this safety and security enhancement, and we're working with the arac to ensure it's done correctly. the faa is making good progress on several requirements ranging from contract towers and environmental concerns with firefighting agents to streamlining the passenger facility charge program. we're acutely aware of the need to continue balancing the interests

advisory committee for special education. i'm also the parent of an 18-year-old who got her driver's license less than two weeks ago. highway safetys a little more forefront for me than it was a few weeks ago. as we've been hearing this year, transportation budget has increased by 38% since 2014. we've added 27 buses to the routes in the past five years. and that's had a big impact. traffic has had a huge impact. at the beginning of the school year, we had a shortage between 20-25 -- i'm not sure how many drivers, but 20-25 bus routes that were unable to be covered. the c.a.c., we're hearing anecdotally from our families that routes this year are increasing and students are picked up half an hour to hour earlier to accommodate traffic and ridership on existing buses. this is having impact. having said all that, me, as a parent, i expect my teachers of my children to be highly qualified and credentialed in the subject matter fields and i fully expect that to beginning of the day when they're picked up at the door. there is a tension of not having enough drivers and getting students to school. and our environment. and any number of
