. >> let's bring in sahil kapur. what do we expect today?place in two legislative days. five is the magic number. gaetz does have five republicans who will vote to oust mccarthy. that is enough for mccarthy to require some democratic help to survive. democrats have very torn on this. some do see value in potentially voting to rescue speaker kevin mccarthy. they may not have to vote with gaetz. all they have to do is vote present. they see it as a vote to push back against far-right extremists. one thing that does keep coming up is they think they're going to get something from speaker mccarthy. the problem is mccarthy just said on cnbc that he's not going to provide anything. there does appear to be a disconnect between what democrats think this is going to be about and this only weakens him with the far-right and center right republicans. there are democrats who are emphatically against this idea. they say no way democrats should entertain the idea of rescuing mccarthy. eric swalwell is a hard no. another hard no is congressman jerry connol
