thank you, sal. topping our news this morning oakland police continue to investigate a deadly police shooting. it happened following a police chase and crash at 85th and san leandro street. we're now hearing more about the man police shot and killed from a woman claiming to be his mother. ktvu's jade hernandez joins us now with what she has to say. jade. >> reporter: good morning. police say a shooting led to a high speed chase which ended right here when an officer opened fire and killed an armed young man. let me take you to the scene yesterday afternoon. moments after the chase ended around 4:20 the suspect's car, a red infinity, crashed into another car here in east oakland. the passenger and the suspects got out and police say armed with two guns refuse today comply with putting the weapons down. the officers opened fire and the suspect died on the spot. as for the driver in the suspect's car he too got out and tried to run. police say the suspect's car was involved in a drive by shooting in the

back to the desk. >>> thank you, sal.an francisco's interim police chief says a life sentence handed down to a man who killed one of the city's officers was a "very light sentence." the officer died when steven crashed into the officer's patrol car during a chase in july 2006. he was in a stolen van when he ran about 20 stop signs during that chase. the judge barred cameras from yesterday's sentencing hearing. before he was sentenced he addressed the family. he cried as he said the death was an accident. he also said when it happened he was "young and stupid." >>> our time is now 5:56. bail is now set at $5 million for a homeless woman charged in a pipe bomb case in the east bay community. the 40-year-old is expected to enter a plea to ten felony bomb charges. they found pipe bombs in a storage locker and in a backpack linked to her. she now faces a maximum of 65 years in prison if she is found guilty. >>> the jail escapee who led authorities on a five hour man hunt in november has pleaded not guilty to several criminal c
