sal has -- you have a busy morning.lot going on, especially around the toll plaza. >> you know, that issue that we have in san francisco getting across, you will notice when you drive across if you are going across the fifth street offramp is closed. a lot of people are slowing down because perhaps they didn't listen to the traffic or the news before they get into the car and there's confusion on the other side as to what's going on. that's leading to slow traffic on the bridge and ultraslow traffic at the metering lights and at the toll plaza because they don't want a big traffic jam on the bridge. the metering lights are on slower. right now, traffic on 880, 580 and 80 is stacking up even before you get to the bay bridge. 35 to 40-minute drive time into san francisco. we suggest using a different route or b.a.r.t. check in with b.a.r.t. b.a.r.t. trains are running in and out of san francisco on time. that's a decent option if you can swing that. let's take a look at the san mateo bridge where more people are arriving.

that leads us right to sal. sal, how are we looking? >>> so far so good. we are looking at a nice drive on the east shore freeway if you are driving let's say from richmond to berkeley it's a nice drive. from the carquinez bridge to the maze that whole thing is only taking 17 minutes. bay bridge toll plaza your drive time there is less than eight minutes across that span into san francisco. it's a very good drive time. thinking it will change maybe but you never know. it's friday in june and some people may not be going to the office today as you drive into the city it looks good. around the bay about the only slow traffic i see is on 580 here. westbound as you drive past 2005. 5:19 let's go to steve. >>> thank you, sal. we have some fog out there. nothing compared to yesterday. that was a rather strong surge. it's clear, cool, chilly for some. it will be a little warmer today. and it will be warmer into the weekend. i'm buying into another forecast model. patchy fog clear and cool. san francisco had been held in check the last couple of days. too much fog

here's sal. >>> good morning. we're seeing traffic to the midcommute levels right now. starting off instate 80 westbound -- interstate 80 westbound. speeds are 50 miles an hour. 23-minute drive time. not all that bad. when you get to the bay bridge, you will be waiting at least that long to get on the san francisco side including the backup at the bay bridge toll plaza and then your drive across the bridge. you will have about a 25, 30- minute drive time getting across into san francisco. as we look at our maps, southbound 880 is slow coming from 238 down to the fremont area. we also do have some slow traffic on the dumbarton san mateo bridge approach. but 20 minutes from 238 to thornton avenue and then 580 is a huge mess here on 580 from the altamont pass to 680 taking almost an hour to make that commute. the traffic in san jose is slowest on 8 a. b.a.r.t. and caltrain is on time. muni has slight delays on the bus lines. nog really major. they will be delayed five, ten minutes. you might want to give yourself ext

for commuters, good afternoon sal. >> reporter: good afternoon, now chp did not tell us that the man set his own truck on fire but witnesses sure did. they took pictures. apparently the man got off his on the bridge and torched him own truck. this is what's left of the pickup after witnesses say a man set it on fire. a man in the pickup truck was reported unresponsive and blocking a lane. witnesses say the man dressed in a dark shirt and camouflage pants got out of the truck and was seen running through several lanes with a gas can. soon the white ford pickup truck was on fire. several lanes were blocked. and the man had been detained by a homeland security officer. >> he was able to detain the driver of the vehicle. our officers were on scene shortly after that and assisted him with getting him to the shoulder. >> news chopper 2 was over head when medics strapped him to the gurney. the man's name who has not been released suffered minor injurys from the fire. he appeared to be mentally unstable and is now in a protective hold. officers say this bridge is closely watched and it's not
