we just heard sal mention it. 101 in marin at lucky drive. this is one of the usual problem spots when it comes to roadway flooding. right now, there's no rain coming down at all. in fact, i am looking at stars and move. clear skies here. but during the overnight hours, there was a lot of heavy rain. and it did lead to some standing water in the roadway during the overnight hours. it has subsided quite a bit since then. we do occasionally see cars driving through here pretty fast. and the puddles kind of catching drivers a little offguard as they plow through it. the chp did issue a travel advisory. the rain is supposed to die down as the morning goes on. again, it's not raining at all here, where we are in marin. and as steve paulson has been telling us this morning, the heavier rain is expected later this weekend. but for today, as you heard sal mention, we can expect traffic delays, maybe spinouts because of the slick roads and the soggy conditions. and this is the first rain we've had really in over a week. so drive safely out there. live

sal is over there, watching our commute. how does it look, sal? >> we have two accidentoss the way to the bay bridge? and a brand new one in the backup here. kevin, who operates the camera, and i, have been working on this. let's go right to the camera i have here. one of the fire trucks was heading to the first crash, which is in the toll plaza. but somewhere in the backup. there's the fire truck going to the first crash. you can see it there. somewhere in this backup is another accident that chp just called for. two closer accidents. one closer to the bay bridge. and one closer to 580 at the maze. this is just making a big mess. especially if you're on 580, trying to get to the bay bridge. you'll have to navigate not through one but through two separate crashes. you can see the first one that we reported is still there. they're trying to move it out of the lanes. you might be able to see the flashing lights. nevertheless, all of it is causing a slowdown. you should add an extra 10 to 15 minutes. let's talk about contra costa highway 4 is going t

sal is going to save us by handling our commute. there's a lot happening on the roads. what's going on now? >> it's raining hard at the richmond toll plaza. go ahead and put the picture up. you can tell that the rain is coming down if you look closely, it's illuminated by the headlights there, westbound richmond bridge approach you can see raining pretty hard. the cars are moving slowly. looks like there's some sort of activity in the parking lot there, a couple of cars moved for a crash, i guess, as they have been moved to the parking lot area. you can see the traffic here at the macarthur maze not too far away is dry and at the toll plaza it is dry as well. it doesn't mean it couldn't rain. it just means that it's spotty rain, as steve calls it, showers. some of the rain is hard. northbound 101 approaching the 80 split, that commute is okay. sunol grade, traffic is fine so far. san mateo and dumbarton bridge have completely filled in. san mateo traffic both directions really slow here, but 280 is a little better as you head down to the valley, you can see the traffic

hello, sal. >> good morning.u're driving in san jose, especially, usually san jose's commute is the slowest this time of the year -- or the year, this time of the morning and this of the morning we see a lot of slow traffic out there in the san jose area. you can see traffic is going to be busy on 101, 17, 85, 280, all of these freeways are slow and you can see it removed all the icons. about the only thing that's better today than yesterday was 17. yesterday it was a mess, today it's much better getting up through campbell. if you are driving on 880 it is slow from just south of union city -- or just south of hayward down to fremont. and we have cleared up that accident southbound 101 in burlingame. i would still use 280 if i were you instead of 101 heading south, 280 is slow in daly city and bay bridge is backed up for a 15 to 20 minute delay at the toll plaza but the rain moved out just as steve said it would and really helped us out for the morning commute. 8:27. bring steve? >> some of the numbers coming in

. >> thank you, sal. we begin with new details from overnight in a developing story from yolo county. a rookie davis police officer died from her injuries, and the suspect was found dead overnight from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. authorities had set up a massive manhunt in the downtown area of davis, looking for him. they eventually surrounded a home and went in just before 1:00 this morning. and found his body. the entire incident began at about 6:45 last night. when 22-year-old davis police officer natalie corona responded to a three-car accident. now, it's unclear what sparked the gunfire. but officer corona who is the only officer on scene, was shot while investigating that crash. >> we're just here at the police department. we're just absolutely devastated about the loss. and i'm just very sorry for the family. >> the davis police chief called officer corona a rising star within the department. she began as a part-time employee in 2016 before finishing the academy last july and completing her fie
