it is 4:32, let's go back to the headlines. >> thank you sal. firefighters across the bay area are now getting ready for what they expect to be a very busy fourth of july weekend. heat and high winds are expected to create a very dangerous situation during the next few days. firefighters say the growing number of people setting off illegal fireworks in the bay area during the fourth of july holiday is only adding to that danger. now without many of the bay area's big fireworks shows, fire officials are worried that more people will try to set off their own fireworks and rob roth has the warning ahead of what is expected attended this busy weekend. one will be seeing along the san francisco waterfront on july 4th this year. and not just here, almost every official fireworks show including symphysis go, marin and the east bay has been canceled due to covid-19 except for one south bay city, gilroy. but to encourage social distancing, gilroy announced it would shoot its fireworks higher than usual saturday night so the show can be seen from the home

let's go back to the headlines. >>> thank you sal. the top medical officer for the state correctional system has been replaced. this move comes as cases of covid-19 surged among inmates and staff in california prisons including san quentin. allie rasmus joins us to talk about what is being done to stop the bricks in the prison systems. >> reporter: good morning. there is no doubt that san quentin is one of the coronavirus hotspots in the bait area and within the california state recent system. there are more people and inmates sick with covid-19 at san quentin than any other prison in the state of california. here are the latest numbers. 1355 inmates at san quentin have tested positive for covid- 19. more than 900 of them just in the past two weeks. 165 staff members have tested positive for the virus and six inmates have died from it so far. governor newsom calls the outbreak at that prison a crisis in a top priority and he says the goal is to safely relieve nonviolent offenders. >> we don't want to send people out to homeless shelte
