okay, sal. >> thank you.g a deadly shooting that may be tied to a road rage incident. it happened yesterday morning. sky fox flew over the scene shortly after the shooting on las vegas road near highway 24. neighbors say the deadly shooting followed a traffic dispute between two drivers, one driving a tesla. the other driving a toyota forerunner. >> a loud bang and my first thought was, okay, gun. and then i thought, no, no way. i thought maybe it was just like a tire blew. >> now, neighbors say the tesla is owned by a 72 year old man who lives nearby. ktvu has learned that the tesla driver called the police and said he shot the toyota driver in self-defense. after that man got out of his suv and punched him. now legal analyst michael cardoza says authorities will be closely investigating that claim of self-defense. >> these cases are factually driven. a person who was attacked has to feel an imminent fear that his life is going to be taken, or he's going to suffer great bodily injury. >> now, orinda police a

sal. pga bills are going up again. yikes. >> well ktvu is andre senior is here in the studio now to tell us about pga fourth rate hike this year. and a lot of customers are not happy. >> not easy when you're still dealing with inflation right now even though it's eased. but it's still and they're already expensive bills exactly as it is right now. our state regulators heard from pga customers who said enough is enough. but in the end, the california public utilities commission unanimously approved that increase. the average pga customer will see their bill go up another $6 a month to nearly $300. this particular rate hike is expected to last for roughly 17 months. the commission heard from the public, mostly from pga customers angry at both the utility and the board. >> whoever is supposed to be taking care of business is not doing it. and i guess that's you guys. you know, you're either asleep or in their pockets. >> my bill is double what it was two years ago. this is insane. why do you

sal. >> thank you. well, today a judge may throw out manslaughter charges against three alameda police officers before the case goes to trial. ktvu is james torres is joining us live now to tell us why some are blaming the alameda county district attorney's office. good morning. jim >> dave, good morning to you. we're talking about the case of mario gonzalez. he died more than three years ago. and one autopsy report concluded his death was the result of a situation while in custody. or rather, while three police officers were trying to take him in custody. those three officers with the alameda police department have since been facing charges of manslaughter. james fisher, cameron leahy and eric mckinley, then district attorney nancy o'malley did not file charges against the three, but they had a three year statute of limitations. so now d.a. pamela price campaigned on getting justice for the family of mario gonzalez. but legal experts say price's office waited too long to file that paperwo

sal is back up with a look at the roads on this wednesday morning. hey, sal. >> all right.nd we're starting in the south bay. this time. there's a lot of slow traffic trying to get into the silicon valley. heading west from east to west. a couple of crashes. northbound 101 at 280. there's a crash. these are minor incidents. most of the slow traffic was already there again. heading that way west over to sunnyvale and cupertino. so that's not particularly unusual. let's talk about fog, shall we? because a lot of people wanted to see the fog. and steve and i have been talking about it. it's pretty foggy. golden gate bridg, daly city, san bruno, south city, parts of that and i think a lot of people are happy to see it. but right now, on the richmond bridge, just a little while away, there's no fog. traffic moves. okay. when you get to the east shore freeway, some of that fog is moving through. so we'll talk to steve about the fog. the traffic though almost everywhere you look is slow, especially in that east bay commute that just has been filled in for the last month or so. as

sal. happening today. the city of san jose is sweeping homeless encampments near the airport. today, city leaders plan to clear out tents, rvs and dwellings east of irene street. the encampment is under the approach path to planes at san jose. mineta international airport. the city says this move is necessary to comply with federal law. there are about 30 to 40 encampments in that area. the san jose chamber of commerce has launched a foundation to raise money to make improvements to its building. buildings at the corner of west santa clara and market streets. the organization says significant upgrades are needed in av technology, lighting, interior design and security in hopes of creating a hub for the business community. the san jose chamber of commerce is a nonprofit, has seen its annual revenue cut in half since the pandemic started. >> our time now 501 bay area communities continuing to mourn for the six israeli hostages killed over the weekend by hamas. last night, several people gath

sal is tracking a big problem down in san jose on northbound 880 this morning. sal >> that's right. and we do have the commute, and it's a brutal backup on northbound 880. on approaching the alameda. there's a live picture from our crew showing the backup now, just about maybe ten minutes ago, they opened up one lane on the freeway. at one point, they were making everyone get off the freeway at the alameda. but now they've opened up one lane. but really, that's not going to cut it, honestly, for all this traffic. this is morning commute. traffic. it is terrible. and again this happened at 430. we're going on a three hour closure coming up in about ten minutes or so. and that's because of the deadly crash. what happened? a car flipped over. that person was okay, but then a motorcyclist came by, didn't see it crashed, and that motorcyclist was killed. and now they have to do that investigation. so it is going to be one of those things where i would just avoid the area. let me put a map up here and show you that 880 and 17. see if i can make it load here. there you go. northbound 17 an
