ktvu's sal castaneda is in san carlos with the latest on what's happening. sal-- >> reporter: julie, let me show you these are the old garbage cans. these are the new garbage cans. some people don't like the new garbage cans and some say their garbage hasn't been picked up at all. starting monday, new garbage company recology took over garbage pick up in palo alto. some complain trash has been missed. pick updates and times have been missed and the new garbage containers aren't big enough. >> the new one, my wife puts the garbage on the top and it's full. you can't even drop the lid on it. >> reporter: some people say the garbage truck driver has not picked up trash inside apartment building or done backyard pick ups like the old company used to. the company says it doesn't have a problem with special requests but it will take time to get that information to drivers. >> of course we'll do it. we just need to know about it. some of that information didn't come with our records. our drivers didn't know a certain house may have had backyard service. >> reporter:
