ktvu's sal castaneda tells us why researchers think it's the same shark spotted off the northern californiacoast several years ago. >>> news of the capture of the big shark spread quickly among the research community. the female shark shown here on you tube weighed some 4,000 pounds and was about 20 feet long. it was accidently caught by a mexican fisherman last week using a small boat called the panga in the sea of cortez. at about the same time a woman who says she was the wife of a fisherman reached out to researchers sean vandel. >> i received the photo and notification and then boom. then comes the announcement, news story south and moving north about this big shark these guys caught. >> reporter: and the big shark could be one he tagged near ano nuevo island. >> well if it's the tag that she's showing me, that's actually my tag. that tag have only been placed on ano nuevo island. >> reporter: he uses the information to monitor the life history of sharks including growth, travel and health. he says this group of tags was placed sometime between 1995 and 2003. >> it could be over a deca

let's head over to sal castaneda to see how the roads are behaving for us. >> we do have some things to let you know about. first of all we are looking at the commute coming in through the east bay and some slow traffic this morning. in fact, let me just go to a look at 237 here. 237 coming from the east bay. not all that slow yet. 880 nearby will be a little slow. now then if you are driving on interstate 880 north and southbound. the traffic there still looks good. the toll plaza is only backed up for a little bit. we do want to mention that lefty odool bridge will be closed today and the rest of the week as they prepare for the home opener of the giants. the southbound lanes will remain open. the northbound lanes that take you across the bridge to at & t park are going to get antiskid coating. again this is the ohm owner for the giants as we play the pittsburgh pirates. >> i think they will play, sal. it just won't be very warm. >> bring a jacket. >> yes. very rarely do they get rain out there. they are very good at getting the game in. there will be rain all the way into friday m
