ktvu's sal castaneda shows us what they are doing it the pond. sal? >> reporter: frank it is hard to tell but at one point this used to be a pond that had lilly pads coming up and clear water. now it looks like a mess but cleaning it up won't be that easy. >> reporter: it used to be a pristine lilly pond now golden gate park lilly pond is over run. the frog, living in aboundance under water must -- abundance under water must be removed. >> many are released by misguided humans and when they are released they are subjected to environmental perils that cause them to starve. >> nature is beautiful no matter how you look at it as long as you get the values out of it. >>> the city plans to drain the pond aat the cost of $100,000. but removing the frogs are not that simple. environmentalists are worried they will move to another pond. this pond is a visual reminder of what can happen when people grow tired of pets and release them. >> reporter: fish and game officials plan to remove the frogs by this fall and that is when the city can restore this pond. liv

ktvu's sal castaneda tells us, this soldier wasn't killed in afghanistan, he died during world war iisal? >> reporter: 68 years after the marine died he is now home and will be buried here with full military honors. he is finally home. this morning the world war ii vet's remains arrived at san francisco international airport. family members and an honor guard stood at attention. >> all the people watching, hands over their hearts. >> reporter: he is his nephew. he was 17 years old when he joined the marines in 1942. he was 19 when his plane went down on april 22, 1944. he and six others were killed. his remains were buried at the plane crash site and forgotten till paper work was found. now 68 years later, he is getting a proper military funeral. >> emotional. choking up a little bit. feel pretty good that finally his story has come to an end. >> reporter: the remains traveled to a sunnyvale funeral home and from there will go to the cemetery in san bruno. >> not our every day funeral but going out there in the runway where the airplanes were was different for us and the feeling was g

ktvu's sal castaneda is live with what happens here if all the work isn't done in time. >> reporter: today it started looking more like a football field. more -- one more step to completion and the question is will the stadium be ready for the home opener in six weeks. >> reporter: we got the pictures today to show the progress at cal's memorial stadium. the head football coach says he expects the team to practice august 15, two weeks before the first home game. he says all is going according to schedule. >> we are right on track to play football september 1. the outsides have finishing touching to be done. the field is going in. >> reporter: the stadium opened in 1923, two years ago they began upgrading. the renovation began immediately following the final cal home game in 2010 and last year they played at at&t park. he was a member of the cal football team for the past three years, he said playing in san francisco wasn't the same. >> you have to travel on the bus to the field. >> reporter: fans are excited to watch football on campus. >> freshman last year, so i never experienced t

let's get a look at traffic with sal castaneda, is it getting better? >>> it is getting better, allie, we have some improvement with the road work and all. we have 580 and there is a truck crash and if you come on 205 give yourself some extra time, lanes are blocked there. i want to show you 880 pause of the road work, we could be picking it up soon. and the morning drive is looking good at the bay bridge toll plaza, so good about the toll plaza. >>> and there is always some patchy fog on the san mateo coast and it will be nice on the coast and temperatures are mainly 60s and breezy mild for the bay warm to hot inland although every forecast model and there is four of them were cooler today. i can't ignore them. it will sunny and northwest at fso. mountain view is in there concord is close, hayward close a lot of tropical clouds staying south for now, maybe later in the week they may show, 6 by the coast, it will be in the 90s to near 100 degrees. 97 degrees for others if you are well inland. it does look like a warmup on thursday and it does look like
