the salesforce transit center is three floors, six tracks. when you bring a train in, and you unload, and you restock, and you do a security check, when that train is sitting at the platform, another train can't come in. at some point, we're going to want to run more than 10, 12, 15 trains up and down the corridor. the only way to do that is to move those corridor activities someplace else, so that's busting through the east side of the salesforce transit center and extending to east bay or alameda or returning to the south. if we extend acrost, one of the things that came out of this plan -- or the forward thinking of the rab project is understanding that we're redoing the seawall, knowing that we may want to extend, and understanding that we might need a punch out panel along that seawall is a forward thinking item that allows us maybe not to build it now, but it allows us to built it in the future, and we we have the xy's and the coordinates. if y -- if you loop around, you still get a lot more capacity at the salesforce transit center, yo

"salesforce" west also made the list. the 4 3-story building at 50 fremont sits directly across from the brand-new "salesforce tower" which incidentally is not a steel framed building. other notable addresses include the old bank of america at 555 california and the embarcadero center. a cluster of four buildings that thousands of people pass through every day. there are also two potential trouble spots staring each other in the face! this is at beale and mission. and pg&e headquarters at 77 beale and the 24-story bechtel building across the street. san francisco currently requires retrofits for so- called soft story buildings. but it hasn't determined what to do about faulty steel framed towers. retrofits are tens of millions which is why buildings have done it. a bill moving through the legislature would require all cities in california to produce an inventory of all buildings that are at risk in an earthquake. >>> a mystery in santa clara county. investigators are on the hunt for a suspected cattle killer. the sheriff

and we would get the trains into the salesforce transit centre. the other two options are moving the trains underground instead of moving the streets and the vehicles. the orange alignment is considered avenue alignment. it is the d.t.x. extended tunnel. that means that we build to the d.t.x. at the same time, we can environmentally clear and defined the pennsylvania avenue extension portion and we move the trains underground. somewhere between 22nd and cesar chavez. when we move the trains underground, we remove the surface tracks. now you get not only the 16th and mission drayton ocean mission bay drive, but we connect a lot more streets between mission bay and the rest of the city. because we've moved the tracks underground, wheat because remove the trains underground, remove the tracks of the surface. the railyard which is currently used for operations, storage, maintenance and staging, the operations will move underground in the two be built forth and townsend station. the box in the green. in the downtown rail extension. the storage and main

and then we also looked at what would happen if we extended the alignment beyond the salesforce transit centre. and we looked at the issue of 280 and weather it made sense to consider modifying or removing it. i will start by saying that the last two items on this list have essentially been taken off the table. we looked at an extension of the alignment which could happen in the future and we think it has positive benefits. and we looked at whether if we are moving to this portion of 280 made any sense in terms of the overall transit system. whether the freeway would get in the way, if you will, of a rail alignment or vice versa. whether it would have to be modified. we have concluded there is no reason. there is no real connection, but we can accommodate the alignments that we need without touching the freeway. for now, that is not under consideration. again, just a little more detail, the alignments that i talked about, again, the green is the existing alignment with grade separations they are highlighted in the lower part of the slide. the orange being pennsylvania and the blue being

whether it comes out of the salesforce terminal and going across the bay, or looping back around. we looked at whether there was the potential for making this connection via the mission bay alignment. we frankly don't know enough about where the connection should go to the east, yet, to really understand that, and so we think all of these are possible in the future. we know that much, but we don't think, at this point, there is an urgency to making this decision. i will say that breaking through, if you will, the eastern end of the terminal to the east, does not only increase the capacity of the terminal and -- in the long run but it adds a whole new ridership to the terminal from oakland and the east bay. it is something to consider in the future. as i said, we had initially looked at weather this one and a half or 1.2 miles of 280 were in effect preventing us from a rail alignments that we would offer. we do not believe that it does. we don't believe there is a real connection functionally -- functionally or traffic -wise between 280 and the transit system. so we did not take th
