. >>> reporter: 12 years ago sally casazza walked away from her full-time job with a big corporation only to find herself running something much bigger. >> i took an early retirement, came here as a volunteer and was able to take over the position when it became available and it's the best job i have ever had. i love it. everything that's on that table needs to get in a bag. >> reporter: sally chairs the san francisco "firefighters' toy program." the holiday toy drive started in 1949 with a bunch of firefighters fixing bikes in the basement of the fire station on bush street. >> merry christmas! >> reporter: last christmas, 31,000 kids had --well, a christmas thanks to sally and hundreds of volunteers who collect, sort and hand out thousands upon thousands of toys. >> each child gets four toys. they get an age and sex appropriate toy, probably an arts and crafts item or sports item, maybe a book or a game and whatever else is donated. >> reporter: sally says the need for certain toys changes year to year but for some reason, this year they really need sports toys for kids. >> basketb
