cnn's salma abdulaziz joins us with what is needed inside gaza. >> reporter: even if those trucks do come into gaza the strip is operating at a deficit. dozens of trucks a day were going in before the conflict because a large portion of the gaza strip depends on humanitarian aid, that was the reality before this latest escalation. so all of that aid is going to be used up extremely quickly and it's not even going to fill that huge gap, that huge ocean of need on the ground. you have to remember these trucks are supposed to distribute aid under extremely difficult circumstances, as you mentioned, 12 hospitals already out of service because there is no fuel. so how are they going to distribute that aid? how far into the gaza strip can they go without gas and as air strikes continue to rain down? the israeli military says it is intensifying air strikes on the gaza strip it says to target hamas but the reality, the horror that that spells out for the 2 million people trapped in that war zone, you will remember of course it is sealed off, all borders closed, is absolutely unfathomable, jo

salma abdulaziz is following. what are you hearing from people experiencing all of this inside gaza? >> just a few hours ago this evacuation advisory by the israeli military expired. what is clear is there are still hundreds of thousands of people absolutely trapped in the cross hairs. you mentioned the condemnation from the united nations. the u.n. is going so far as to say there are no safe places in gaza. the fear from rights groups is many families will be left out essentially in the open without shelter as bombs rain down on them. here's the situation in gaza. i warn you, this report does have graphic images 37. this is what running for your life looks like in gaza. an ambulance rocked by explosions as they attempt to flee. it is unclear what happened to them, but they are among the tens of thousands on the move after israel's military called on half of gaza's population, some 1 million people to get south in a matter of hours. along the safe passages specified by the idf, utter horror. you are looking at the

is trying to increase the aid trying to get in and he would like to see 100 trucks a day, and salma abdulaziz and what would that mean for 100 trucks a day? >> that is a fraction of what gaza was getting on a daily basis, because they would get 450 trucks a day, or more than that, and so 100 a day is a drop in the bucket when it is coming to the need on the ground. you have to remember that this is now what has been the fourth week of entering of bombardment and siege and intensification on the ground of that conflict of the israeli forces are entering on the ground, and that means that the situation is ever more dire, and critically what is not on the trucks, kate, is fuel. that is the lifeline that the united nations says that absolutely that the gaza strip needs to power the hospitals, and in order to have electricity, and to pump water. again, just a drop in the bucket. so, you have to remember what these trucks are going to face getting inside of the gaza strip, and near constant artillery and bombardment, and displaced people on the move, and they don't know where to go for aid, and the
