the salvation army is always in need of volunteers and food. this time, their food pantry is running low because of monday's storm. officials are asking for your help. "i think we all rely on the community support that we recieve. it's vital to our operation" the salvation army feeds over 100 people a day. many of them are women and children from the domestic violence shelter turning point. social services director jamie starkey says the biggest need comes when children aren't in the classroom. "we depend on the school to provide for children when they are in school so when the children are out of school for s snow day that causes an increased need for food supply here" starkey says weather has played a big role in fewer donations this year. also, the salvation army's red kettle do well last year. that's their number one source of funding.
