sam bleiweis joins us from the newsroom. judi and charles, airport officials are urging passengers to be patient and to have a plan in place ahead of this weekend. already in charlotte, a number of airlines have cancelled flights to and from the airport tomorrow: including american airlines, jet blue. but at columbia metropolitan airport this evening, it was a fairly normal scene for travelers trying to make it to their delays for flights heading to washington dulles...and a few delays to atlanta...but so far no cancellations. airport officials say it's best to plan in advance and if your flight does get canceled that your first line of defense is to stay in contact with your airline. "as always, we're just encouraging everyone to check with the airlines first. check the website, make sure you're plugged in either via the app or phone numbers. usually they'll do their best to notify folks if there's changes in the flight plans. but right now, everyone is really making sure that the groundwork is laid so that way we don't hav

sam bleiweis joins us with a look at damon james' background. 42 year old damon jones was wanted out of houston, texas for murder. this afternoon we're learning more about his arrest record, which dates back to 1990. the first alleged violent crimes date back to 1995. in september 2014, he was accused of assaulting a family member, and in october of 2014, he was accused of murdering his officials still aren't sure how he wound up in columbia, but members of the marshals office caught wind that james was in the midlands--and sent the task force out to byron road apartments to arrest him for the 2014 murder. he opened fire at officers, who returned fire, striking him multiple times in the upper body. james retreated to his vehicle, where officials say they heard one gunshot from inside. "right now it's looking highly possible that he took his own life.the officers did shoot, so we're doing an investigation on that. our people are processing the forensics, getting interviews, statements from those that were present.but, again, this was a very dangerous individual that had alread killed
