nbc bay area sam brock has been following the story. sam joins us live and do we have any idea what happened to that dump truck? >> reporter: yeah, we do, jessica. you say a runaway dump truck. it turns out it was broken. the emergency brake wasn't functioning properly. and it could have been so much worse jessica. because we are standing right now on this steep grade in all of san francisco. you are talking about a truck at least 26,000 pounds. nafs the height of its capacity, barrelling down the street striking cars along the way. you see one of them a mercedes on that tow bed there about to be taken away. several other cars here as well. a total of six on this side. you move through the intersection and this is where it started to get hairy. because you had an uber driver in a toyota coming through this intersection as the truck barreled down the driver in the uber stopped what he was doing and tried to reverse but still got struck by the dump truck. the drug dragged it through the intersection and ended up over here. the uber truck c

sam brock has been covering the trial from the beginning. and joins us this evening in san francisco. with the very latest twists. sam. >> reporter: yeah, raj, fweeng. the interesting developments have to do with the media access in this case. the jurors as you mentioned were back. this was the third full day of deliberations. there were a couple of piecemeal sessions into the holiday but really got down to it today. we knew they had questionings. they did. what's weird is dpiet the fact it's a public case and the judge the in this case said we would be privy to the questions they had for the judge, when those questions popped up, we were not able to hear them. we were barred from the courtroom. now, you see the attorneys shuffling in and out today. i asked them what the reason was behind woi we couldn't find out the details on what they were asking me about. i was told ask the judge. soy asked the judge. the judged told me the attorneys don't want you inside for this section. so obviously a lot of things to met out there. now. it's not surpr

sam brock has been in court every day. he joins us live from the hall justice. in truth jurors have really only had two full days to weigh all the evidence. >> reporter: that's exactly right. we know there were half days the first two before the holidays. but officially jessica this is day four of jury deliberations. they spent some 18 hours so far considering the charges. and you absolutely get the impression that the stake holders involved here believe a verdict could be soon. as for what happened today, pretty much a similar pattern to what we saw yesterday. defense attorneys, the prosecution attorneys, shuttling around the hallway periodically going in the courtroom and extended period of time with all the lawyers in court typically indicates that there were more questions today from the jurors. perhaps more review of testimony as well. and as you brought up, the length of time begs an important question here. is there a coralation twaen oh how long a jury deliberates and what the outcome of a trial is in here is uc hasting law professorer on that question.
