sam brock joins us for a closer look at all of this. good morning. >> good morning.comfortable plex than. that the national bureau of economic research, a panel of nonpartisan experts, they're the one who are going to decide whether or not ultimately we are officially in' a recession they are looking at more than just gdp, inflation is at a 40 year high and unemployment at 3.6% very low and job creation, some 450,000 jobs have been created just this past six months of the year and consumer spending remains very strong. the reality to point out right now, for many americans, it is not just a number, it is how they're feeling, and when a disproportionate number of people are spending money almost exclusively on food and fuel, that is a problem. energy prices are up 40% and food, double digits. a lot to digest. and wages in many cases, wages and the new jobs have not kept up with inflation. that is problematic. i will leave you with that since 1948 there has not been consecutive quarters of contraction where ultimately a recession has not not been declared back to you.
