hearing from the mom of 43-year-old sam dubose. dubose family. it was just yesterday that they held a funeral services for sam and laid him to rest. they say that his -- sam is remembered as someone who made others laugh. the mom also talked about her son's charm during the press conference where we just heard from her there. thinking that maybe at first she thought that sam was kind of being playful with the police officer. but the video in and of itself describes the interaction between officer tensing and sam dubose behind the wheel of that vehicle. one thing to point out, as well earlier in the video he was pulled over for not having a front license plate and also officer tensing did find a bottle of gin in the vehicle and pulled it out of the car. in the video, we also hear the exchange back and forth about a license. dubose did not have his license on him. he asked the police officer to run his name. saying that his license was not suspended. the officer did not do that. instead, he chose to ask dubose to get out of the vehic

the family of sam dubose is in the hallway. there's no seats for them.nyone to give up their seats. people stood up. the prosecutor said the whole reason the charges were filed is because of that body cam video. the video we have watched over and over again and a jury will watch over and over again. the defense is saying that the police officer put his hand in the car and i asked him yesterday, why did mr. tensing put his hand in the car? he said because sam dubose put the keys in the ignition started the car, put it in gear and the young officer decided he was going to take the keys out of the of the ignition. so his hand got tangled. then there's the aspect of the dragging. we don't see that in the video. the defense attorney said as you look at the video when he's making the traffic stop look farther down. it looks like an oil stale in the middle of the the roadway. there's a five second piece of video that shows him down on the ground at that point, thus he was dragged. listen to it in the defense attorney's own words. >> clearly shows officer kensin

he says that his client saw sam dubose actually put the key in the ignition and turn it on and put the client decided i'm going to try and get the keys out of the ignition and so he put his hand in the car attempting to do that and that's when the hand began to get tangled. i also asked him about the dragging, because we don't see that on the video. he said that there is a very small portion of five seconds when his client is on the ground, not where the car and the shot took place, but extended outward down the street a little bit. he calls it an oil stain. he claims that he didn't get down there just by walking, that he was dragged down there. listen to the attorney in his own words describe that. >> officer's video clearly shows officer tensing laying in the street some distance from where mr. dubose's car was initially stopped. he didn't crawl up there. he didn't walk up there and fall down. somehow he got up there. he says he was dragged and i think that's accurate. >> reporter: now, of course, the prosecuting attorney in his press conference said that's just an excuse as far as t

the two that will stick out are sam dubose here and walter scott in charleston. those are two of four. there have been four cases of the 558 where an officer in 2015 has been charged with a crime of shooting someone. in all four cases, there is video of the shooting. walter scott, samuel dubosa, eric harris in tulsa, oklahoma, and then a fourth shooting of david, a 59-year-old white man stopped at a traffic stop for an expired emissions ticket. ran. got out of his car, was tackled into the snow by an officer, tase asked then shot in the back twice. so that video has not been released, although there is still a decision being made by a judge of whether or not it will be released. but what we know is that in all four cases, where an officer has been charged for an onduty shooting, there is videotape, in several cases because of a body camera and in other cases because of bystander video. >>> the natural empirical question, what this would all look like if we had videotape for the 50 plus shootings and killings of unarmed civilians if we had videotape for that. the
