san jose mayor sam liccardo is set to deliver his annual state of the city address. he's expected to cover a wide range of topics.. from silicon valley prosperity.. to families >>> sam liccardo will deliver his annual state of the city address this evening covering a wild range of topics from silicon valley prosperity to families struggling to make ends meet and the bay area's housing problem will be a major issue in his address. san jose is planning to build 25,000 new units in the next five years, many of them near public transit. >> we're make great progress in a lot of areas. we are rebuilding the san jose police department. we are seeing the airport become the fastest growing airport in the country. we are seeing incredible amount of job attraction. but we have to build more affordable house. we have to build it quickly. that's where i'm focused in the year ahead ensuring we have a city where we can all belong. >> the mayor is focused on rebuilding the understaffed police department since benefits were cut years ago. he will give his speech 6:30 at city college.
