sam. yes. mayor sam liccardo of san jose will be speaking at that santa clara valley water district board meeting later this afternoon, but first he'll be hold hag news conference in 30 minutes here at city hall to answer questions about new accusations that the city knew in advance that the coyote creek would flood areas like rock springs and williams spring park neighborhood on february 21stst and yet did not order evacuations in time. yesterday the santa clara valley water district released a statement in response to a series of questions from the mayor, and in this response the district claims that both the district and the national weather service provide the city with early enough warnings to start evacuations, and i'm quoting here. our question is why did the city not act on maps, predictions, forecasts, data and other information from the national weather service that flooding was imminent? happy hollow park and zoo did take notice and evacuated and the city tells the mercury news that the people at the zoo could literally see the water coming up the creek which runs behind the property.
