two past winners are here live with their secrets. we're sharing ours. >> we might share them in a little bit. not until after the drawing. >>> ahead, this video is causing a whel lot of controversy. we're seeing alicia silverstone feeding her son by chewing the food first and feeding him like a baby bird. some people don't agree. >> according to my twitter account, people are not liking it. >>> and staying classy. will ferrell playing the flute there. >>> we have to begin with a serious turn in the horrific murder of a single mom in vermont. police have arrested a husband and wife team. melissa jenkins lost her life trying to be a good samaritan. this just breaks your heart. >> reporter: it does. this morning, that married couple is behind bars facing second-degree murder charges and possibly life in prison. the woman in this case didn't stand by her man. she actually help pd commit and cover up a cold-hearted murder. this is the husband and wife they say brutally murdered melissa jenkins. >> they knew miss jenkins and had snow-plowed her driveway a couple of years ago. >> reporter: what allegedly was intended to be a sexual encounter sunday night went wrong. according to court documents, allen prue wanted to get a girl. his wife then allegedly called jenkins saying they needed help, luring her to this rural road with a phony story. jenkins 2-year-old son was this the backseat. left all alone after the prues dragged off his mother. >> she was placed in the prue vehicle. mrs. prue turned around and continued to strangle her to make sure miss jenkins was dead. >> reporter: court documents say she called a friend because she was uncomfortable. >> we're entering pleas of not guilty on both accounts. >> reporter: police say, patricia prue denies any involvement. according to her husband, they tack here back to their house, stripped her of her clothes, wrapped her body in a tarp and dumped it along the connecticut river. the body was severely bruised, face down in shallow water. her feet bound with rope and tied to a cement block. the couple pleaded not guilty. >> my brother would never do anything like this. >> reporter: the arrest brings a mix of relief and sadness to this close-knit community, now left grieving. and we're learning new details about what jenkins 2-year-old son witnessed that night. police say he said mommy was crying. he gestured by pulling at the back of his neck, saying that's what a boy did to his mommy. >> my goodness. so much evidence here. the judge denied bail. i was surprised to see the charges are only second degree murder. >> so am i. i have to believe that will change at some point. you have two possible theories. premeditation. they said they're luring her. what more premeditation would you need? >> you did. we're far too connected. >> hey, it's 8:00. welcome back to "cbs this morning." i'm gayle king. >> i'm charlie rose with erica -- hill. we've been reporting all morning the captain of the jetblue flight 191 could face criminal charges as soon as today. he had to be restrained after he stormed through the cabin screaming about threats linked to iran and afghanistan. >> the co-pilot made an emergency landing in amarillo, texas. lee cowan is in las vegas where flight 191 was originally scheduled to land. lee, good morning. >> reporter: morning, guys. that pilot is under medical evaluation this morning. the passengers on that plane are just counting their blessings after having to tackle the person who's supposed to be flying that flight. the incident began midflight. the co-pilot noticing abnormal behavior and physical duress suggested somehow that he exit the cockpit. at the same time, he arranged for another jetblue pilot flying as a passenger to enter the cockpit while he was outside. a 49-year-old georgian, a jetblue pilot with 12 years' captain's experience returned to find the cockpit intentionally locked. that's when his behavior escalated. >> he's banging on the door, yelling at the first officer. i think his name was steve. bring it to idle. bring it to idle. we're all going down. pray to jesus. open this goddamn door. >> reporter: he assured them it was not being hijacked. >> so the stewardesses got ahold of him, but then he got close to the door, the outside door, so then i said, i can't let this guy open the door up here. >> reporter: an emergency landing was made in amarillo, texas, where he was finally taken into custody. although the pilot call it had a medical incident, the luggage was screened for explosives. databases determined that he has no known association with any terrorist groups. if investigators decide to charge the pilot, it would be the first time that a pilot was ever charged with interfering with his own flight. back to you guys. >> thank you, lee. senior correspondent john miller has been talking with law enforcement and security forces and joins us now. this is the thing, john miller. hello. >> good morning. >> i'm ea very nervous flyers. i look at the passengers, the exit, imagine scenarios in my mind. i have never thought about the captain. this is a headline, this is your captain freaking. only the "new york post" could write a headline like that. i'm thinking what now will the fbi do to deal with this incident? it's so frightening. >> what they've been doing all night long, starting through midday yesterday, was that's a very small office, amarillo. so that's a four-man fbi team that responded directly to the airport. and then with a lot of help from the amarillo police because they had more people. they separated the 130 passengers and crew. they got everybody's statement. they documented that. and they have a way to reach back to all of those people. that was a critical first step. but the rest of the night was figuring out who are this captain's friends, his family? who's his physician? where is his drugstore? in other words, trying to put the answers to those questions. the first thing you would do is ask him, the captain, in an interview on the way to northwest hospital, but the people i spoke to last night said on the way to the hospital at the hospital, he remained incoherent. in some way they had to back off and let the doctors do their thing so that he would be a viable interview. >> he was speaking gibberish. it's one of those things that you don't think the captain could go cuckoo for cocoa puffs. when you listen to the passengers talking about it, one woman said i wanted to run. i didn't know where. i love the new york guy who said i don't have time for this today. i think only a new yorker would say that. i don't have time for this today. do captains -- do pilots go through psychological training? >> they go through psychological testing. they go through drug testing, both random for cause and on suspicion. they have to go through, a once-a-year physical and qualify. if they're over 40, that becomes once every six months. i mean, the medication issue here is going to be a critical question which is if he was on it, was it reported in the physical? and if it wasn't reported in the physical, is even that a violation of law? >> from what you've heard, i mean, you mentioned people you spoke with that even on the way to the hospital, he was inco-here end. was there any indication as to when this started? were there any signs we know of before the cockpit door was originally closed and he was sitting there with the co-pilot? >> well, i think that you take a look at the co-pilot's actions here. here is a guy who realizes this guy is acting abnormally. his physical manner, the things he's saying. this is a couple hours into the flight, and this has been building. and he very calmly convinces him to go out of the cockpit. he says, you know, splash a little water in your face in the men's room and then he locks the door, figures out that that head pilot, gets him up there. they changed the combination on the door. there's a lot of thinking on your feet that's going on with that co-pilot who managed to not get in an argument or challenge this guy but actually defuse the incident. >> what was the conversation in the cockpit? >> the conversation in the cockpit is recorded. and that lives in the black box. that's not something they whip out and play back. it has to be processed through a system, and that is one of the critical things they'll be looking at today. because what the fbi needs to find out now is everything they can about this guy and what could have caused this, either physiologically, mentally, chemically. >> i mean, the fbi is the fbi. they know how to find out why the behavior of somebody, and it if they have a medical issue and that kind of stuff. >> sure. the issue here is not a yes or no answer. it's one of those things where does he have a wife over here? does he have a cousin in arkansas? is there a friend he talks to in chicago? and that means leads are sent out and even at 3:00 in the morning, they'll knock on that door and answer it. >> exactly. >> but the other question is to what end. so what does the u.s. attorney want to know this morning when they say, are we filing a federal criminal complaint for interfering with a flight. >> charges he may be facing. >> that would be it, the federal charge of interfering with a flight crew. and as lee pointed out, this would be the first time in known history that the pilot in charge has been charged federally with interfering with his own flight. but the u.s. attorney is going to want to know, was this behavior? was this chemically induced? was this medically induced? was this -- they're going to want to know, before i take this charge to a court or ever a jury that's going to say, well, the guy had a problem, there was no criminal intent here, what did they put together on that story? sam knows that. sam knows that it's not just about the single data point. in fact, these teachers will not lose their job, even if they're the last teacher on the list because the data is not i wouldn't go being used to determine effectiveness within the school. this is about parents. and while the tests may or may not be as effective as it needs to be, we don't throw the baby out with the bath water. the expectation here is that parents must know how effective their children's teachers are. and if this is the current best method of determining that, then it is what we will use. we should continue to improve the method, but that doesn't mean until we've gotten what we believe to be a perfect method that we wait. >> sam, let me ask you this. like in a lot of american corporations, you are evaluated. a lot of professions. you are evaluated how well you do on your jobs and you're either helped in your career or you've moved into another job that might be better within that company, etcetera, etcetera. here, you have the biggest profession in america, 3.2 school million teachers. do they have that type of evaluation in school teachers and should we? >> they don't and we definitely should. that's, again, a point that steve and i will agree on. teacher evaluation has been a complete joke. almost everybody passes. there's no useful information that's passed on. but in this particular situation, i'm the parent of a soon to be 3-year-old who is going to enter a public school in d.c. i'm writing a book about school choice. what we're writing about right now and what's happening in new york city, i don't know if steve collected baseball cards when he grew up. this is like the equivalent of me getting a basebal

sam donaldson -- sam donaldson, always shouting at him. make like he couldn't hear. right in this year. donaldson, it would drive him crazy. reagan, he was a man of good cheer. he was determined when he got in that office to do some things that he saw or both important and necessary. the economy, that to care itself when he left office and to stretch her back to normal, the economy was roaring. the unemployment had gone back to normal, whenever it is. but i think his biggest success was in his foreign policy. i'm not going to get into the caribbean stuff, but his dealings with the soviets, he faced them down. these were some serious situations. they had 3600 great big warhead missiles pointing at this country. we would have been destroyed. and from the cold war days on, right after world war two there was a policy, probably a decade of what they called containment. i was part of that. we were trying to contain the soviets expansion, the communist expansion, vietnam was part of that. and various other places. and then that's sort of morphed over with henry kissinger tow policy of peaceful coexistence when nixon got and. going to try to be friends with the communists. and reagan thought that, i want to kill. those people, they treat the people like barnyard animals. people who live under communism live like slaves. he doesn't like it. he made a moral value judgment that he was supposed to make, but he made it. and so he said -- here was his initial problem. all these old guys, whenever it was, everyone, he kept these guys radius of. and finally he got gorbachev. gorbachev was a lawyer, well educated. these other guys educating, and reasonable. reagan got a lot of flak because he came back from iceland to where you is supposed to have a big arms talk to get rid of some of these missiles. gorbachev let al wouldn't do it. well, reagan had from the very beginning when out and made a visit the first year to some place, some mountain out in nevada, idaho or someplace, a big central control, all the buttons the press to blow the world. here is this guy, colonel a general. what are our defenses? we don't have any. what? no. i mean, we can't do it. what you mean? he said furthermore the soviets decide on a first-rate they would not got every one of our missiles before they left. the first truck was going to kill everybody. and reagan got out to berkeley where he had connections from being governor and talk to these. we have to get something going here. star wars they called it. it should have worked. they kept on doing it. terrify the russians, the soviets because they didn't have the money to do that. this was enormously expensive proposition to set up all these huge space stations and satellites. she down missiles when they interspace. and so this was the enormous bargaining tool that reagan had. gorbachev, every time they had a meeting he would say, well, we're willing do away with this number of missiles, but you have to the do away with the star were staying. we can't have that. and give it to you. once we get it finished at would give it to you so now we can shoot missiles at anybody else. how about that? fair enough? no, they didn't want that. and as a result the soviets stewed. they grieved and the grumbled. and then reagan win over in 1985 to berlin where was the berlin wall. he made a great speech. he had made friends with gorbachev, he thought. he thought that they talked to each other. he still was determined, at this speech, his own state department was horrified that he would say such a thing. he got up and pointed and said, mr. gorbachev, if you want peace in the world tear down this wall . and the german-speaking, oh, mr. gorbachev, on the other side of the wall, ray is going to be gone tomorrow. everybody was stunned. but suddenly this became -- the german people on both sides of the wall. and gorbachev new committee was having truck -- cavan problems. he started easing control. these controls. the people took power. suddenly saw the whole eastern bloc of the soviet union began to crumble. reagan was out of office by this point by about a year. he started this, i think. you could make the case for one single individual who brought soviet communism in the east down it would be ronald reagan. he actually, after the thing, after the satellite countries, czechoslovakia, poland, every, east germany, he went to visit moscow. he went to see gorbachev. reagan made a speech to the great law school there. and he talked to these guys. they had never heard anybody talk about democracy and freedom it was against the law, but he did it. and he was cheered. and so that was his legacy, i think, that the was a lot smarter than anybody give him credit for. one of the things that i found, the president is using speechwriters. they do to some extent. he did. but reagan rode his own speeches . and have the books with his own handwriting in them. he kept a diary. since james pope, but maybe somebody did. reagan kept a diary which was a stir inarticulate. and he wrote letters, and they're collected. i was just fascinated by the turn of this guy's mind. he was so clear and so smart. he was in a brilliant guy. he was basically a meat and potatoes guy, like to ride horses and had a big ranch and in california he love to get to weigh up in the mountains. santa monica, not santa monica, santa barbara. this guy was -- i mean, one of the things he did, tell the story. the press would always go with the big telescopic cameras, a costa and thousand dollars for the lens. they trained on his little rant ser. all day long, just to see what would happen so they could report something. he goes out. he knows they're there. so suddenly, they go crazy. he gets that way. he smiles. [laughter] what i thought i would to year, i hate reading things. coming to a reading. read something. let you read it. i need your read it. but the last couple of pages of this book that i wrote sums up, i think, what reagan was and what he did. i can see. make the type probate. about a page and a half in the book. but he passed away of alzheimer's disease. he made -- he wrote a note. he explained what was going to happen to them. he basically had a good time. he thank everybody for their kindness. even thanks sam donaldson. but he did. june 3rd 2005, ronald reagan passed away at his home in bel-air, california. he was 93 years old. on june 9th his body was flown to washington d.c. the rotunda of the u.s. capitol where 1,104,684 mourners feuded on june 11th. the funeral service was held at the national cathedral, attended by many of the world's greatest leaders, including his old adversary from the killed gorbachev. he was buried in california at the ronald reagan presidential library. on his gravestone are inscribed words from a speech he delivered to the dedication of library. i know in my heart that man is good. what is right will always eventually triumph and there is purpose and worth to each and every life. during his political career reagan was disliked and even reviled by most of the intelligentsia, the mainstream media as it is come to be known. today there are still those who belittle his role and russia's decision to stop putting in a clear the missiles at the that states and the fai
