nikki: meteorologist sam schrier joins us again with a look at your forecast. sam weather adlib: the first major snow storm and blizzard is finally upon us and we are definitely in for a lot of snow and dangerous driving conditions. light snow in the very early morning hours will turn in to very heavy snow through the morning commute and into the early afternoon hours, especially in west and northern iowa. on top of heavy snow amounts there will be a large amount of wind keeping visibility low and causing large drifting especially across less traveled country roads. during the morning hours des moines will see mostly snow but we will be mixing that snow with sleet at times especially on the south side of the city with the heaviest snow falling north of the city. a dry slot will overtake southern and central iowa in the snow and rain but still allowing for northwest iowa to see lighter blowing snow. temps will be able to rise above freezing during this time so when the final wave swings through after 5pm tonight we will see rain turning into snow across central i
