sam von trapp: we were.it was nice living so close to her because when it was just us with the family, she would relax a little bit more. whereas when there were other people around, she would sort of learn to put on her public persona. so it was nice to get those pure moments where we could just be with her as our grandmother. maria's thinking was this place is too lovely to keep to ourselves that we need to share it. and that was why she wanted to open it up to others. tabitha lipkin (voiceover): for almost 75 years the trapp family lodge has been drawing nature lovers to its picturesque grounds. and when it's leaf peeping season, they offer many different ways to take in the natural surroundings.
