meteorologist sam roberts is sam? >> samantha: yeah, may they are going to get married. that will be just before the new hurricane season next year begins. of course we are in hurricane season right now. time, 12:03. we are tracking powerful hurricane matthew still a category 3 storm with maximum sustained wind a major hurricane, 120 mile an hour winds just off shore north of daytona moving toward the jacksonville area. you can still pick out the eye on the satellite it does look a little bit more ragged as these tropical cyclones close in on land. the friction goes to work and we start to lose a little bit of steam. so, you get that weakening no longer a category 4 storm, now a category 3. again, it is moving off toward the north and northwest. st. augustine, palm coast, jacksonville getting hammered right now and the worst is yet to come for those areas and places like savannah and tomorrow, we expect impacts all through the southern carolinas, the lowcountry of south carolina, so charleston, north to myrtle beach as a category 1 storm late tomorrow. and then look what

meteorologist sam roberts has another nice-looking forecast today. sam. >> samantha: we stay above average, guys. we hit 82 yesterday. it won't be that warm, but it will be warmer than what you expect for mid to late october. let's go through the day planner forecast for her today r starting off at 63. a little cooler than yesterday, but you guessed it. still above average. 62 at 9:00, and by midday we should start to get into the upper 60s and then we hit the low 70s by about 3:00. 72 will be your forecast high today with clouds decreasing throughout the morning. i think by 6:00 tonight, 68 and after school practices and anything you have going on later today or even in the morning you should be good to go. tomorrow. right now we don't have any rain around our satellite and radar picture is pretty quiet since last night's rain has moved out. but there may be wet grass out there, wet roads, so take it a little slower this morning. if you've got to let the dogs out, take a towel. you don't want any muddy paws on the floor, right? get ready for a lot of mud starting to

meteorologist sam roberts is tracking showers moving through northeast ohio. sam? >> samantha: thanks so much, tia. we will start off with a live look outside with the radar. there's a lot of green on the map. i have you zoomed in to the cleveland metro area stretching into northern summit and medina counties. you can also see cleveland's east and west sides from much everyone is seeing at least some light rain right now. i'll zoom you out, show you the bigger picture, showers are a little more scattered west of elyria, not quite as much rain out that way. if you are east of cleveland, you are going to be in this for a little while longer to the west, things should start to get a little more spotty from here on out. not only is it wet outside, it is windy. winds are sustained out of the north at 20 miles an hour in cleveland and they are gusting time. i expect this to continue into the afternoon. scattered showers, cool temperatures, and gusty winds. you want to have that umbrella ready to go if you have plans this afternoon. we were actually out in it earlier. here's video fr

roberts. fog is an issue for everyone this morning. >> samantha: yeah. take it a little slower this morning. give yourself a little bit of extra time. at least you don't have any rain to drive through, right? that hour-by-hour chance of rain from sunup to sundown through tonight is zero. you can leave the umbrella at the number one accessory this morning is the low beam headlights. we are tracking fog. visibility in cleveland is great. if you go outside in cleveland right now, you probably think i have lost my mind. like, what fog are you talking about? there is no fog. you got to go outside of the city limits in order to find it, especially in lorain county. we have seen live pictures from lorain where there is some pretty dense fog in the area. mile, quarter-mile in sandusky, same thing down in wooster, so it's a lot of the same areas impacted by this yesterday. by 9:00 we should be seeing big improvements with our fog, but in the meantime please watch out for little ones at the bus stop. they get close to the curb, and when you can't see right, it's tough for everybody to see each other.

first, over to our meteorologist sam roberts who has got your wake-up forecast. hey, sam. >> samantha: good morning. good morning if you're just waking up, and time is if you join me from akron, good morning to you. we're in the low 40s, so i would grab a jacket. notice it is not quite as windy as it has been. it's also not warm, but it's really not windy. that's good news, because yesterday it was so windy all day long. not going to feel like that today, but winds do pick up for tonight. cleveland area, current temperatures mid-40s, now it's a little breezy in downtown. my goodness. i need another cup of coffee, right? we've been running around and i haven't had time to go get any just yet. i hope you're drinking your coffee with us so you can have a great day. notice we are mostly cloudy across northeast ohio but the clouds break as we get deeper in the day. we see more sunshine, so the school day forecast for today looks pretty good. bus stop, though, it will be chilly and we go 40s and 53 lunchtime and about 57 for right home. feeling every bit like fall, but we have some warmer d

meteorologist sam roberts has a look at your monday morning forecast. hey, sam. >> samantha: good morning. yeah, we've got good news in terms of the week ahead. a little bit of bad news for you this morning. got fog around, and i just received a message from the 4:30 producer lauren buchanan, she's a kent state grad. so shout-out t kent state this morning. erie county and huron county, it looks like we have several schools delayed by at least two hours. i'm willing to bet, guys, it is due to that fog. visibility is reduced in many areas to a quarter-mile. so please be aware of that as you're out and about driving this morning. watch for kids at the bus stop, because where we do have the fog, it could be tough to see. 54 as you send the little ones off to catch the bus, or maybe you might want to grab the jacket as some have dropped into the upper 40s. here's that fog situation. we're still at a quarter-mile in dover, same thing in mansfield. starts to get more drivable, though, as you head north. visibility is great in cleveland. keep in mind that's at the airport. that's a

let's go to sam roberts now with an update on when and where we think this thing is going next. sam, this storm reaches three ohio. that's massive. >> samantha: it's a big storm. not the biggest on record, but definitely a sizable storm impacting a lot of people yesterday. haiti and cuba, and today into tomorrow the bahamas. matthew is still a category 3 hurricane. it is still a major storm here moving to the north at 10 miles per hour. so it's trucking right towards the bahamas. maximum sustained wind of 125 miles per hour, so it's pretty we do expect it to get stronger returning to category 4 strength sometime tomorrow. this is something to watch if you have any interests from virginia beach south to the outer banks down to the carolinas towards charleston or savannah. it extends into florida where we could see big impacts. here's our thinking into the weekend. potential right now based on the current track for flooding rain, damaging wind, power outages, coastal flooding. it could be a rough weekend in a lot of spots across the southeastern seaboord that we watch closely the from the state of ohio where things are worry-free lately. this
