let's check in with our meteorologist samantha roberts. we aren't getting a foot of snow, are we? >> samantha: no, our snow has come to an end at least for now. but we have a long way to go. it's only mid november. i want to show you what's snow showers out in new york. here closer to home, just cloud cover. no snow or anything like that. we are done for now. there's a closer shot. few peeks of sun out to the west but in cleveland and down to the south, akron canton, more clouds than sunshine. temperatures are cold. we are sitting at 34 in cleveland. but when you factor in that wind on exposed skin, it actually feels like 23 degrees. that's called the wind-chill. it feels like 19 in canton. current wind-chill temperature down aroun 22 degrees. it's going to be a cold afternoon. we will only hit about 38. that high for the day will happen around 3:00 or 4:00. we'll have dry weather, partly to mostly cloudy skies depending on where you are, and by 10:00, we hit about 32. really really chilly stuff here. so, are we going to get any warmer for thanksgiving? we will talk about it coming

meteorologist samantha roberts joins us now with her first-alert forecast. hi, sam. >> samantha: hi, tia, good afternoon. good afternoon to you, as well. i hope that your tuesday treating you well. if you haven't hit the polls just yet, here's what we are looking at weather wise. maybe you are going on your lunch break and you are going right now. cleveland, akron, canton, everybody off to the east w in fact, as far west as norwalk, things are dry, but there is a little light rain moving into our far western areas closer out toward the islands. erie county, sandusky, and ottawa counties as well. again, most of this is pretty light stuff. it's gradually drifting off to the east. so, if you are in erie or huron counties, heads up as we get a little bit closer to 12:30, 1:00, you could be seeing light news as we go on at 4:30, we are on until 7:00 every day. we were talking about that little chance for a few light showers by the lunchtime and early afternoon hours. i think as we get deeper into the afternoon, our rain chances will increase. so, if you go out in

meteorologist samantha roberts joins us now with a look at the first-alert forecast. sam? >> samantha: all right, thanks so as much, tia. yes, we woke up this morning to rain and pretty mild morning temperatures for this time of the year. but the numbers have actually dropped since this morning. so it's cold and it is windy. we also have cloudy skies across northeast ohio. a little bitf trying to come down southern cuyahoga county, stretching down into medina and northern summit counties. this is very, very light rain if it's even making it down to the ground at all. it's very windy outside and it is going to stay windy all through the afternoon. winds should kind of back off just a little bit tonight. but still breezy out there even into the evening hours. there may also be a little drizzle from time to time but most of us will get through the rest of the day with mostly 48 at 2:00. probably stay right around that mid-to-upper 40s range through about 8:00. then the numbers really starting to drop late tonight. i've got good news for those of you who are in need of a little

in fact, meteorologist samantha roberts says it's looking cold and dreary. and sam, we might even see some snow out there. >> yes. and we wanted to break down the impact of that snow for you, tia. i have put it all into map formo breaking out the shovels in some areas. that would be inland, ashtabula, geauga down to portage and trumbull south to youngstown. only minor issues for cleveland, akron and canton, and even then, this is not going to be a major snow event. it's just our first snow of the season, which is why we have been talking about it a lot. it's our first chance to see any accumulation for the season so far. travel farther off to the west. mansfield, toledo, lima, i don't expect big issues there at all. again, i think the biggest impact will be felt this weekend in the snowbelt. and we have a lot more to talk about in regards to this snow event. we will cover it all coming up in just a bit. but, let's get through this afternoon first. because before we get to the snow and the wind this weekend, we want to enjoy this beautiful day. it's gorgeous

meteorologist samantha roberts is tracking all of that for you. hey, sam. >> hey, tia. good afternoon. if you are just joining us. we are tracking showers moving into the cleveland metro and a lot of areas seeing rain. let's go straight to the maps. i want to show you exactly what's happening on the radar. we are now cloudy after we saw a good bit of sunshine early this morning. you can see that shield of precipitation approaching the cleveland metro area. most of this is rain. but, initially when it starts falling on you, it might come down as a little sleet or gropple, initially. that can sometimes b for soft hail. so, if you see something falling looks like dip-in-dots, don't be alarmed. it will change over to rain because temperatures are on the up and up. all the way back to illinois down toward paducah, kentucky, we've got rain. so we've got a ways to go. if you will be traveling this afternoon, this is a heads up. let's say you are leaving now and you are going east taking the pennsylvania turnpike down rest of the afternoon. but, if you are going west, you bette

let's go to meteorologist samantha roberts who has your turkey day forecast. happy thanksgiving, sam. >> samantha: happy thanksgiving as well. if you're just waking up, a big happy thanksgiving to you. i hope your morning is off to a great start. a lot of you already firing up the oven getting the casseroles in. it's we're starting to dry out. the rain that moved through last night has moved to pennsylvania and new york. i have scattered light rain east of cleveland in ashtabula county. there's light shower activity west of elyria. if that holds together, that will move through lorain county and then eventually into cuyahoga and medina counties. so we're not totally done with rain just yet. through the 9:00 hour we could see a few scattered showers popping up. cold weather and wear something waterproof on top of your running clothes. clouds and drizzle for the rest of the day. i think if you play a little backyard football today, you shouldn't have any major issues, although the ground may be wet this afternoon. upper 40s for you with, again, that little chance

roberts. hey, sam. >> samantha: good morning. and good morning if you're just rolling out of bed. it'sle thanksgiving, thanksgiving eve. no rain to drive through in our local area . if you're traveling south or east, you'll be fine. those who travel west this morning need to take it a little bit slower. you can see on the wide map here i'm showing you northwest ohio. i don't have any reports of wintery precipitation from 75 east, but i have a little report of mixed precip around defiance. most of this pink stuff that you see here is lifting off towards the north and east. i think most of this misses us, and plus the air here is really dry. so i think anything that does come in initially is going to have a tough time making it down to the ground. this what i think will be moving in later. you can see rain is widespread in indiana and northern kentucky. that's lifting off towards the east and northeast, which means your evening travel plans in bit slow, but best time for local travel this morning or midday. in the afternoon we're okay. there might be a little rain around, but again,

meteorologist sam roberts tracking those winds from our first-alert weather center. >> samantha: hey, duff. good afternoon. we are dealing with windy conditions today. i want it take you to a live look at current wind speeds. we are coming in at about 20 miles an hour sustained out of the north in mentor. 23 miles an hour sustained in wooster. so, it is very, very windy out there. we are gusting up to 32 miles an hour in elyria, 29 miles an hour in cleveland. and have seen higher gusts than that today as we get those cold lake erie. a lot of cloud cover has developed across northeast ohio and we are also tracking a few little rain drops out there across cuyahoga, summit, portage, geauga, trumbull, columbiana and mahoning counties. this is not heavy rain did you definitely light, patchy stuff out there. i think that will be the trend through about 6:00 as temperatures continue to fall and the winds will probably not let up at all, at least not much, until tomorrow. we will t tonight's forecast and we will look ahead to the weekend coming up in just a bit. >> tia: all right, sam. thank

watching the roads this morning, but let's go right to meteorologist sam roberts who has details on the forecast. good morning, sam. >> samantha: good morning, and rolling out of bed this morning. back to work we go, and i would take the umbrella along if you'll out for a prolonged period of time today. right now we're completely dry, but you see some rain out to our west. now, i don't think all this will hit us. it's going to be moving into some drier air. this is rain coming through indiana, but here at home the air is super-duper dry, so i think any rain we see during the day pretty isolated. you can see that at this hour, 6:01, really nothing happening in northeast ohio. it is totally dry, and i would expect a dry commute out there. quiet conditions, so i gave it the green light for your drive in. it's chilly. bundle up. upper 30s through 8:00 in the morning, and we should hit 41 at 9:00. a yellow light for the evening commute as we could have a few spotty rainshowers around, especially out to the west of cleveland. that's where we're most likely drive, and look at these numbers. mid-50s this afternoon. you might drive hom

sam roberts in the first alert weather center with the very latest. hey, sam. >> samantha: hey, guys. will be tracking snow this weekend. that's right. you heard it here. and you heard it all morning long. if you have our cleveland 19 first alert weather app. here is that weekend forecast for you. saturday we are going to start with rain. then we will transition over to a wintry mix. then eventually all snow to round out the weekend. it will also be super windy this weekend. that is going to add insult to injury. so, it is going to be bitterly cold. we are looking at our best seeing the first accumulating snow. but before we get to the weekend, we got to get through today. i mean it's only wednesday. right? so let's help you plan the afternoon. i've got mostly cloudy skies out there. had a little light rain this morning. that is all gone. now, we are dry and we are going to stay dry for the rest of the afternoon with temperatures topping out in the mid-to-upper 50s. we are sitting at 51 right now in cleveland. but i think we will get bumped not too bad for this time of the

roberts. it appears we are done with the high winds but it was nasty. >> samantha: it was windy. we had a recorded wind gust at burke lake front airport, 53 miles an hour. so that can certainly do some damage buildings, smaller outbuildings, things like that, and of course power outages. let's take a look at some of our other wind gusts. 46 miles an hour in lorain. brook park 45 miles an hour and about 41 miles an hour out in ashtabula. you might have heard it, last night might have woken you up and we had heavy rain as well. winds have backed off, sustained out of the south and west anywhere from about five up to 15 miles an hour with some 20 but is it because of those gusty southwest winds that it's so warm outside. 59 right now in cleveland and we are not done yet. we got a lot of sunshine out there. so, with that wind and the sunshine, i think by 2:00 we get up to about 64. we will go 65 for a high and that will be at about 4:00. so, really incredible weather, duff, for this time of the year. back to you. >> brian: all right, sam. we will check back with you again. we learnin

let's go to meteorologist sam roberts to tell us what the weather will be like at first pitch. sam? >> samantha: hey, guys, yeah, i actually increased the forecast temperature for game time. i end for the afternoon, as well. that is a resounding whoo-hoo from the weather department. right? we are excited for this one and let's get straight to the maps. i want to show you exactly what is happening out there right now. no rain in our coverage area. had a few sprinkles early this morning. that is long gone. i don't expect any problems this afternoon. unless you consider this a problem. low 70s in november. november 2 and at lunchtime, it is 73 in cleveland. 71 down in akron. for that game time forecast, i think we drop to 70 by 8 just a few degrees warmer than that. 68 at 9:00. mid 60s at 11:00. little shower chance in the forecast for tonight, as well. but the chances are better after the game. so, after midnight and into the early morning hours of tomorrow we'll have light southwest winds. you don't need that big puffy coat for tonight. great baseball weather. let's just hope that the outcome of

roberts working this for us getting answers. sam, does all this la nina stuff mean we may have a winter worse than last year? >> samantha: basically, yes. so if you try to justify the nice snow boots you want or the nice coat you want, i say go out and do it i you may need that this winter. la nina has developed. it's present but it is weak and it means that ocean temperatures in the equate oral pacific are cools off. last winter we had el nino which means warmer waters and this year it's cooler waters and that impacts the weather here and all around the world. la nina is expected to stick winter. what does la nina represent? it means colder and wetter weather in the northern tier of the united states and drier and warmer weather down to the south. so our friends in texas will be baking this winter, while here at home we're probably going to have to deal with a little bit more snow than we saw last year, which wasn't much. remember how mild it was? temperatures this winter, cooler than last winter. precipitation, i think, will be wetter than average this sea cleveland 19 first alert weather office, nothing extreme, but
