be celebrating their relationship between san high and san francisco. the shanghai and san francisco. this is a 30 relationship that stretches back to win dianne feinstein was the mayor of san francisco. we premiered a new work of art here in san francisco called the three heads, six arms. welcome to san francisco. thank you for bringing your extraordinary sculpture. can you tell me about what inspired you to create this sculpture? >> this started with some trips that i took years ago. i went to to bed and i saw a lot of statues and i started to really feel the spiritual life of people in tibet. it really inspires me and i went back to shanghai and i started the creation of this. >> we see that one of the heads of the bullet it is your face. can you talk about the significance of that? -- we see that one of the heads of the buddha is your face. >> i started doing public art almost 10 years ago. what i want to express this as an extension of my our practice. this is an accumulation of my own experience as a performance artist. >> we see that the scale is

we have 450 projects throughout san francisco. we have incentivized wisely over the counter permits so people can navigate the bureaucracy, a $98 fee, flat fee. we are developing projects in this city with minimum requirements for lead building standards. in fact we have a proposal that i will be presenting in front of our san francisco board of supervisors that says you want to build a commercial structure in excess of 50,000 square feet, you've got to provide minimum lead standards of construction. the reason we are doing that is we create an incentive a year ago to do that and everybody in order to get ahead of the queue in terms of the planning process is jumping in saying that's a no brainer of us because time matters more than anything else. so we are going to require it as a base line for doing business in the city and county of san francisco. that follows what we had already done and that is say we're going to spend the taxpayers money, we have got to provide those lead standards in terms of our libraries, reconstructing o

a practice here in san francisco in live here in san francisco. i am raising two children who are attending public schools. this week, they are attending a camp at the golden gateway tennis club. it is a great facility. those things will still be in place later. but i am here in support of what has been done by the planning commission and the planning department. it is to be commended. this is the final key, as many folks have said, in completing the waterfront, which so badly needs to be activated. the densities that have been discussed, i think, are appropriate. the need for housing has been clearly articulated by alan mark and others. we do a lot of residential work in this town and definitely need to see more housing in the pipeline. it is projects like washington and others along the waterfront that would add tremendous housing. this is about the greater public good. clearly, this is that link between the ferry building and the fisherman's wharf that needs that greater public wharf and needs to be built into something exciting. i cannot wait
