first off the san francisco district serves northern california, santa cruz to the border and san francisco is not all of what we do. in san francisco last year we did about 200 sba loans and average loan size is $500,000. it's pretty good size. it's not the micro-programs that we support through the lenders and working solutions is one of those and we have others in the city and the bay area so we so micro-lending support but the main program is a guarantee loan program and 100 banks do those loans in the area and just san francisco city we did about 200 loans for about 105 million -- at 100 banks in a year. of that about 25% of the total for women owned business and 10% in addition were 50-50 ownership so about a third of the lending in san francisco we did last year were for businesses majority owned women or 50-50 women owned business so a significant percentage. nationally it's 20% of all sba funding is to women owned business so compare san francisco to the rest of the country we do larger percentage in san francisco. again those are larger businesses. as i mentioned they're businesse

francisco. >> i am from san francisco. i grew up in the local neighborhood. i did my under deprad wait work at fisk university, where i studied political science with a concentration in public administration and worked eight years largely in the public sector. then i earned a master's degree from carnegie melon in pittsburg, pennsylvania. i spent some time as assistant executive director for a non-profit. we did work if a lot of kids in the neighborhood. i have done fundraising for candidates and issues. i have experience with the federal reserve bank of san francisco. when i look around my neighborhood and see the changes that are happening, i so there is no neighborhood grocery store. i see that small businesses in particular are coming and going, and they haven't been able to really sustain themselves. from my work experience in working for the city in the mayor's office as well as in the non-profit, i had a good sense as to what some of the challenges were. when i look in the future, i could see more challenges coming.

the control's office in the city of san francisco released a report that he lights the san francisco residents about public services that they experience. this includes our public schools. i would like to take a moment to highlight the key insights from this report which i think are very good barometers about how the public is perceiving our public schools. >> the percentage of respondents with school aged children attending schools have increased in the past five years from 66 percent to 71 percent. we find that many of our colleagues and school districts across the nation are experiencing decreasing enront are having increasing. the percentage that rates it as excellent, have increased by 8 percent in the past two years from 18 to 26 percent, the percentage of respondents at schools are good or excellent and increased in the last two years from 66 to 74 percent and the percentage that rated our schools as average or poor has decreased by 8 percent in the past two years. from 34 to 26 percent and the percentage of respondents with young children indicating an intention to move out o
