tom is in san anselmo tonight with that part of the story. tom? >> about 6000 of those people are without power. the reason being lots and lots of trees falling on lots and lots of power lines which can happen from time to time especially in these big winds storms. i want to show you san anselmo creek . at this point in time it is high but not dangerously high. all of this water is being drained from the mountainsides. as this water goes down, it can cause flooding closer to the bay. at this point in time, this is okay. the real problem comes with the big day loose of rain and trees falling into the creek. that has been the case in the past, especially 1982 and 2005. having said all that, we want you to take a look at pictures we shot of people getting ready to close up there buildings. in san anselmo, less than 5% of the people put out sandbags are water blockage. it's up to them to decide what to do. people that have been here a long time, have decided to take action. as you can see, they were taking no chances. >> normally when we get these war

keeping an eye on the creeks, you're looking live at the san anselmo creek. that's our camera there. as jeff mentioned a short while ago, there is a flash flood watch out and the waters can rise fast. the marin county town as you well know has a history of flooding during heavy rain. so much so that the city council recently vote today tear down five flood prone buildings that sit directly over the san anselmo creek. business owners say it really is an annual ritual of the season when those big storms moveall ee creek. we are always hopeful and optimistic here in san anselmo. we've been through it a lot. it wouldn't be the first time we've been flooded here. where we're standing now up to your waist, my waist is where the water has been before. >> it has. now, it's considered flood stage when the creek reaches 13 feet. as a short time ago, the level was a little over 5 feet. in the south bay, crews spent time getting ahead of what could trigger flooding as well. the water district focused on removing grass and weeds at bridge supports in san jose. that debris

( john)( john) you can track this ( darya ) another big story we are following this morning... we have new details about what led up to a deadly officer involved shooting in santa clara. officers fatally shot a man at a gas station on lafayette street early saturday morning. police say says the 55- year-old gunman walked up to the gas station--armed with at least a long gun and a handgun---and began firing at passing cars and people pumping gas. police rushed to the scene and were able to stop the gunman before anyone got hurt.
