this is the cross sections for san bruno avenue. this change is pretty simple. the existing southbound lane on san bruno intersection is extremely wide and we can just narrow that down it a minimum of ten feet and add a bike lane with a buffer and it doesn't change any parking on that street. so for drivers, the changes they would notice are the lane reduction on alemany boulevard from three lanes in each direction, to two. the project does include adjustments to the traffic signal timing along alemany boulevard to minimize traffic delay from that change. and two right-turn on reds would be prohibited at the alemany boulevard and bayshore boulevard intersection, we saw a second ago, to accommodate those two left-turn bike paths where cyclists would be waiting in front of the right turn lanes. as i mentioned, on san bruno avenue, just one of the lanes would get narrower, the muni bus route 8 operates northbound only on that stretch and its operations would not be affected and as i mentioned there's no parking changes with this whole project. kron 4's charles clifford is live in san bruno.... in san bruno.... well, smoking of any kind on bart is illegal but one man decided he would do it anyway. this is video given to kron 4 that shows a man on a bart train smoking what appears to be some sort of pipe. it's unclear if he just smoing tobacco or some sort of drug. whatever he has, the people around him are clearly bothered. the video was apparently recorded this past thursday. we don't know what happened after the video stops. on friday, we reached out to bart for comment but they declined to be interviewed for this story.this incident comes just a few weeks after multiple bart riders told kron 4 that they found hyerermic needles on bart. this woman actually sat on a needle and says it pierced her skin.on friday afternoon, we spoke to bart riders in san bruno who say that for the most part riding bart is uneventfull but bad behavior isn't unheard of. sotevery once in awhile when i board in the morning someone will be sleeping here. other than that i don't see to many bad thi

san bruno is trying to now fight a part of the law, which the state is calling a clarification, which would allow marijuana deliveries in their cities. there will be public hearings today on the change, the clarification of the current law that would allow a licensed retailer who delivers to do so within any city or county in california, even if pot store fronts are banned there. 482 jurisdictions are trying to stop this, saying removing local control goes beyond the bureau's authority. the league of california cities sent out a letter to the state saying in part, cities remain concerned about the critical aspects of the regulations that would undermine their ability to decide if and how cannabis is right for their communities. there's another rule change as well that the league of cities is trying to fight against right now that would reduce the time frame in which they are able to put any objections toward somebody receiving a pot license. right now that's 60 days. the state is talking about making that 10 days. >>> 40% of americans can't afford basic necessities and 38% of renters

our storm ranger is out in full force on top of san bruno mountain, helping us collect data no other tv station can bring you. we want to know the latest on the air quality. let's bring in jeff ranieri to tell us more. >> it really is this mixed picture. we have the fog out here at the coastline. but of course all of this gray, every single bit of it in northern and central california, that's the smoke that's primarily moving into the bay area from the three fires we have been tracking offer to t t north. can you see the smoke in marin, sonoma and we think it's going to look very similar to this tomorrow. the upper level winds, which, for the past couple weeks have been taking the thickest of the smoke and moving it into the central valley and off to the east is going to stay weak. so again, weaker upper level winds would keep more smoke here to the north of us, and that would allow the surface wind to move that smoke down here across the bay area. so i do not see a big change in tomorrow's forecast. worse of the smoke would be the north and east bay. but still smoke particles filter
