jonah: the largest facility, which is in san bruno. strange, but the county's biggest jail is in san mateo county. a short drive south of here. it is the main jail and is where a bunch of longtime inmates are held. kristen: how did this deficiency come to light? jonah: well, good question. i initially was interviewing inmates because of a suicide in jail about a month ago. i went out to san bruno and interviewed in inmates, gave him my card, started having his buddies call me. they started calling one after the other, and it turned out the suicide didn't have anything to it other than it happened. so, they started talking about conditions that were saying it was because of covid and staffing, they were on lockdown 23 hours a day in some cases. which means they get to leave their cells for one hour a day. and they all were mentioning how horrible the situation was. and i found out that there was a lawsuit filed in federal court in 2019 on behalf of many of these inmates, arguing they were getting no sunlight. none. there was no yard time

police say this happened after 2 cars crashed on san bruno avenue in visitation valley right next to highway 101. one of those cars ended up going right into the building. as you can see, they're hitting gas and water lines and causing other structural damage. 3 people had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries and 14 people have been displaced as a result of this crash. the american red cross is helping those people. police say they are investigating. and the owner of a restaurant in san francisco is hoping police can help find a couple of burglars who are all caught on camera. this is that no rush. and that's located in the city's pacific heights neighborhood. he was recently hit kron four's. dan thorn has those updates for us. >> in the early morning hours of november, second to pair of burglars breaks in the news restaurant. the hooded thieves pop open the back door and started grabbing what they want. >> think getting a break in and things stolen from you and a violation of your cent is not a pleasurable experience. owner john lutz says the damage in the stolen items
