i just spoke with the san diego gas and electric.hey are gradually restoring the electric transmission lines. it is in the first process of getting the power back. let me show you in orange county. it is daytime mayor pierre red-ho however thee are no traffic signals. people have to stop and move through it san diego and electric tell me that it is going to take some time to restore all of these transmission lines. the main issue started in central arizona. a transmission line connects to california is where the initial problem started. the power runs through california and some of the was some type of support line. investigators are still investigating that. it could take all night. early tomorrow before power will start to be restored to some of these residences and businesses. they are starting the process. with 1.4 million customers that is several parts of orange county. they are asking for people to be patient and the baseball to a union tribune newspaper staff writer. christine that gave this. here is what she had to say about

san diego international airport is operating on generator power.em operator, which oversees the power grid, says that the problem started when the high-voltage lines that connect arizona and california, the main source of power for much of southern california, they were knocked offline at about 3:45 thursday afternoon. and we're now told by officials in arizona that one arizona power service employee was doing repairs at the north gila substation northeast of yuma, and that apparently knocked off the power. it should have been localized in yuma, however, system protocols were apparently not followed, and that meant it spread like wildfire across southern california. san diego gas and electric company officials say they are working to restore power. they even already managed to restore power to some of their customers. they say it could last well into friday and we're in the middle of a heat wave in southern california. that means a lot of folks not only missed the football game, they're going to be missing their air conditioners. rob and tanya. >>
