joe little from san jose joining us from san diego. what is the situation where you are? >> well, it's been pretty miserable off and on in san isabel. for those familiar with the san diego area, we're an hour inland away from the coast. it is -- this is the calm we've been experiencing throughout the day, but just 20 minutes ago we were just pummeled with rain. you can see the trees behind me. these are huge, old trees. they are not moving right now. we are getting gusts between 60 and 70 miles an hour and they start bending all over the place. earlier today we were here about 11:00 a.m. this morning when one of those trees gave way. we have video we're showing you. one of the trees fell, took down some power, utility lines. they cut off the power to thi one small building. guys showed up real quick, our utility company down here. they took care of the power. they replugged the building back into the system and whatnot. surprisingly, really surprisingly throughout this mountain area, we haven't seen a whole lot of trees falling down. and that wasur biggest fear heading up

this is a freeway that connects san diego to the deserts east of san diego.ortunately authorities were prepared and they had first responders standing by. they asked people to stay off the roads, to stay in their homes during the storms and as of now, there have not been any reports of any serious injuries or damage other than trees falling on some structures here in san diego. in los angeles, as you mentioned, jose, during this storm we had this earthquake in ohio. that was northwest los angeles north of ventura. it scared a lot of residents as they were waiting for the storm to pass. all of this hit san diego, los angeles, palm springs and riverside county. a tropical storm that as of now fortunately it did create some flash floods. but fortunately we haven't reported major damage to structures other than the roads that we've seen in these videos that were damaged. and of course let's keep in mind that those areas that are still flooded, jose, do pose a threat for anyone that attempts to enter flooded areas. something as simple as driving a vehicle through

this one is located just east of the san diego area. we had reports of water rescues to the north of los angeles. there were three people that reportedly were rescued. two were accounted for. one person still is not accounted for and the computer models did a pretty good job estimating how much rainfall would materialize, in coastal areas 1 to 3 inches fairly common reports i've seen the last 12 hours and in the mountains they were suggesting 7, 8, 10, maybe some areas as much as 12 inches and that's been the case. still our flash flood warnings out for a good portion of the now under a state of emergency regions when we could see severe flooding continue even going into the early morning hours monday. as i mentioned, a lot of that moisture is moving towards the north. there's a big ridge of high pressure over here, so everything is just kind of funneling towards the north through the great basin and into the rockies. this will start to really taper off going into the afternoon hours in southern california. that's the good news, but you
