. >> reporter: the hearing is happening now inside of a federal courtroom in san franci the judge is to protect public and prevent wildfires caused a pg&e. u.s. district entire electoral service area, renew or trim trees in repair the cause wildfires. calfire, the california public utilities commission federal prosecutors and pg&e are expected to be inside of the courtroom now where judge alsop will make a ruling on the order. in a filing the us district court pg&e said it cannot afford to work on its own it would have to substantially increase rates of her customers. judge also is overseeing the pg&e probation after the utility was convicted of violating federal pipeline and safety rules and obstructing justice and a probe of the 2010 san bruno gas pipeline explosion that killed 8 people and destroyed dozens of homes. pg&e was fined $3 million and placed on probation for five years. the court hearing comes one day after the utility filed for bankruptcy citing hundreds of losses from wildfire victims and billions of dollars in potential damages. we spoke to a spokesperson earlier thi
