we raised our to native san franciscan daughters here and there almost out of college. we are excited to be well treated in this community. i have them pro bono work as an architect and my work is without portfolio, so when something comes up, i am able to address it and i would like to speak about barricades' on broadway in the evening hours on fridays and saturdays. many things have been tried, blocking off the roads from all vehicular traffic, but it creates a problem because the parking lots are vacant. without someone in controlling the parking lots, a lot of nefarious activity occurs and was what was ordinarily a police have the area. we tried keeping people from going up the hills and circling around and we had another idea to put a barricade on the middle of the block between broadway so that traffic coming from columbus avenue can't go all the way through. you can go in as far as the barricade hist to keep people from trying to get around and the parking lot could stay open so attendants can monitor the activity and club owners can enjoy the parking the need fo

my name is susan loftus, a native san franciscan and mother of three. s serve as a prosecutor in san francisco and the domestic violence unit. there is one thing i really want to convey. i think something is really at stake in this conversation. i have watched it on mine and sat in the hearings. we have made tremendous progress with the criminal justice community on how we address domestic violence. we've done better at listening to victims and protecting them in the wake of tragedies and done better at healing batterers. no one wants a batterer to continue to batter. but as a misdemeanor and domestic violence prosecutor i have watched men convicted of a misdemeanor push or slap, just because it was not in the papers does not mean we never prosecuted pushes or slaps. we did it because it is domestic violence. i have watched men who pleaded guilty in -- plead guilty in court in their body changes. the moment you stop minimizing it, you can start healing and start getting better. from my experience and what i know about domestic violence, i have never seen

[applause] that is more than a building. it is the future of our hospital. and the general has always been a big part of our city, our past, present, and future. the story of san francisco general started in 1851 san francisco started the board of health. the hospital moved here to potrero avenue. the hospital was rebuilt over the years, offering children's and psychiatric services to respond to the needs of children. in the 1998's, the current hospital was -- the 1990's, the current hospital was built and was one of the first hospitals to open there doors to aids patients. we became famous around the world for that, helping to break the stigma of hiv/aids. the mayor has just arrived. welcome, mayor lee.
