we do know that over the last two years that the number of san franciscans residents enrolled in any number of credit courses, one, two, however money was roughly 20,800 over the last two years that these are san francisco residents enrolled in at least one credit courses one credit course. last year when we campaigned to make city college free, it was very important to us that we talked about a program that was free and universal to everyone. and i spoke about this a little bit in the beginning of my remarks but american-american government locally and throughout the state decided to invest in a universal and free k-12 education system because they believed at that time in the 20th century that was what was necessary to provide citizens a foundation in order to the tools they needed to succeed into the middle class. we are learning today that in the 21st century that a high school diploma is no longer enough to compete in today's market. that close to 70% of all jobs here in america will require some type of post secondary degree training or certificate by 2020 so it's very important

we looked at how can we make sure that we provide opportunities for san franciscan's and people in the region and so we looked at ways we can expand our local san francisco lb program. so, we thought about it and worked with general manager at the time to form an advizry committee to talk about how to include local businesses in the region. >> i was on the first committee back about 10 years ago and the job changed over time. in the beginning, we just wanted people to know about it. we wanted to attract contractors to come into the system which is a bidding system and bid on some of these projects. our second job was to help the sfpuc to try to make themselves more user frndly. >> i like that they go out of their way, have contractors trying to teach and outreach to small businesses and lots of creative ways. help the community as well. there is so much infrastructure going on and repair, new construction that i think is helping to get construction back on its feet. >> my faiv rlt part of the committee has been that we have played a opportunity for many small businesses. neighborhoods why are we are doing this one is because everyone who lives in san francisco should be san franciscansy should never be referred to as residents of public housing everyone is a san francisco resident and when we're here in san francisco with our equity calls and calls that people be treated equally good housing this should be at basis that's why working with the housing authority with hud making sure that we're changing the entire way we manage those projects those developments the housing that you live in i got to a point i got tieftd excited people weren't talking about broken glass and water system didn't work but how many bedrooms will i live in how many kids are we're going to have open space so for our kids and the playgrounds we want it is a new conversation with you talking about the housing needs of all our residents so i'm very proud of all the residents that are coming together with the collaborative partners as part of hope sf the entire board of supervisors thank you for preserving in everything you're doing those dreams were thought of maybe over 10 or 15 years ago people

keith is a born and raised san franciscan. wnt to viz valley elementary school. came to san francisco to work for the port and now is operations manager for lombard street ambassador program. suface to say that if we are now the 4th most congested city in the entire world, this is the most conjusted single block in 4th most congested city in the world. keith you are the reason that so many people in the neighborhood hope that will get better. lead a team of 4 ambassadors. there are two million people that come to this one site every year. the ambassador program was taken from the fishermans warf and understand the manager is here as well or was some point earlier. keith shown amazing leadership. i hear from the neighbors and resident of district 2 ol it time. you memorize greetings ipdifferent languages for all the tourist and make people feel welcome and at home but you contribute to the quality of life for san francisco resident so as someone who grew up in the neighborhood i want to say thank you for the work you do. as with so many honorees and so many differe
