san franciscan for sports and recreation. it is the organization that was formed in 2015 to help save the san francisco tennis club. as a longtime member of the sanancisco tennis community, i was quite skeptical of this project initially. the reality is that the project is doing the right thing from the beginning. early on, the project sponsors and san franciscans for sports and recreations reached an it -- mou for the provision of off-site interim tennis courts during project construction. also providing for advanced public benefits in the form of grants to public recreation throughout san francisco. to date, funding for this project has provided $1.864 million in public recreation grants to san francisco. some of the enhancements include the refurbishing of 15 public tennis courts at six different locations, throughout the city, including goldengate heights, musk only recreation center, marina, mclaren park, bonavista park, numerous others with four new court scheduled to be resurfaced with new nets replaced later this year, and early next year respectively. there was a $400,000 gift to the learning center in the recreation room at golden gate

those are the things that are necessary to make sure that san francisco is a more affordable place for all san franciscansof all income levels. we have work to do, folks. the good news is that in this particular efforts, they basically kept their eyes open and saw that this was an incredible opportunity for the small sight acquisition program. in fact, even though we are celebrating 86 units here, we know that number one, we have almost -- we have acquired almost 300 unit so far through this program, there's another 110 in the pipeline, which is absolutely incredible. i am really excited about the future of this program, but a more excited about the 600 million-dollar affordable housing bond on the ballot this november. san franciscans help address costly housing issues in san francisco. thank you. >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> hello, commissioners. my name is linda lightheiser. i'm a 20-year resident of district 11. i live very close to the proposed site and i'm well aware of all the issues that have been addressed under this proposal adds a trial basis. i'm very much in favor of this project. i think it's an interesting project that addresses a lot of issues that for years now many of our citizens and city officials have been throwing up their hands about how do we do something about homelessness. this is in my back yard and i do appreciate the opportunity to try something new. we have some interesting comments that came up at the two public meetings. i attended both of them, along with my husband. i feel that the issue of public safety was the one that drew the most concern from our citizens. i think that this proposal has done everything possible, both working with the san francisco police department and other city agencies to address those concerns for those citizens. i'm hopeful that you will approve this project. thank you. >> thank you. i have more speaker cards. >> good afternoon, commissioners. i'm the president of the district 11 club but also a resident who lives very close to this project. i do use the babalo transit center quite often including the park as well. i think this project has been very thoughtful and well-planned by the staff and everyone involved. it was done in broad coalition. i appreciate the supervisor's work. i appreciate the work of the coalition of homelessness on this as well. i know c.o.h. has been working on this since 2012. this is long-needed to happen in san francisco. i wish san francisco was the first in the country to do this, but i'm very happy that district 11 can be a first in san francisco to do this. i would encourage you to not only encourage this project but also encourage more projects in more neighborhoods.
