next d >> supervisors, my name is connie ford and i'm one of the vice-president of the san francisco labor council, you can tell by the color of my hair that i've been around for a while, i know that san franciscans love good health care and health care for all of our citizens, back in the 90's, we passed six initiatives to better health care for our citizens, we know the single payer or many of us is the on the answer and in 94 or 96 that the state ballot that passed, that the single payer initiative, san franciscans passed it, californians didn't, san franciscans passed it, when we got to cfo's, we couldn't have it all by itself in san francisco, so we brought in all of the different force, we brought the federal government funding, the state funding and the employer's funding to help provide access for everything, acso is not just san francisco healthy, healthy san francisco, it's both, the mandate from the employer so they should pay their share as well as everybody, and as your attorney said today, we think aca is coming in, we're excited about the possibilities, we wanted to wor

san francisco for health care. one of the recommendation ins the health care services master plan is about preserving healthy san francisco, we're here today to talk about why healthy san francisco and the health care security ordinance is still really important even with obama care, so locally under the health care security ordinance, the minimum workers is 20 but if the ordinance was replaced by the affordable care act, the minimum would be raised to 50. this is important because lez people would be covered or get health care and businesses and instead businesses should also share the profits by helping the workers get health care. the health care security ordinance would secure that more workers would get health care and health care is the human right and everyone should have the right to access health care regardless of their income. thank you. >> thank you. i'm going to call a few more names. so, i had to move out of san francisco due to the cost of living. now i am renting in san mateo. but again as i said before, this is where i belong. this is where i want to serve here because i'm a peace officer san francisco. and the city spent a lot of money for me, so, it's a pay back. and again, because i want to live in san francisco, i've been saving money to buy a house in san francisco. but again, as i said before, and as most of you know, the houses are very expensive here and then comes supervisor mark farrell and his excellent team, come up with a program to assist first responders with a down payment assistance program. that's what exactly what we need. many of us want to live in the city and provide our services to the city, but -- [background noise] >> we have been forced to live somewhere else. i feel like i take the paycheck from san francisco and spend somewhere else. and, again, i want this program. i want to take advantage of this program. and i want to live in san francisco. again, i want to thank mayor lee, supervisor mark farrell, sheriff's department, our s

those have access through city college of san francisco to benefit, others access healthy san francisco now because they don't make enough and there are some of those who would fall through the cracks if we didn't have healthy san francisco. one of the unintended consequences of the aca is the fact that employers are going to appear to be driving down hours for many workers so that they don't need to provide insurance and that's something that is happening all over the country to part time adjunct contingent faculty members all over the country. there are teachers, professors who are not getting the same number of classes or the same number of hours. we're already seeing health care access diminished as city college of san francisco for our part time faculty and we ask that you defend healthy san francisco so that there will be some place for them to go and so that there will be some place for the thousands of others who need to have access through healthy san francisco and won't get it otherwise. thank you. >> i have a few more names. in fact, this year the city of san francisco will help with over $100 million of resources to our san francisco school district. were not going to let them be isolated anyone. this is the future markets and public education is at the heart of it. we will help them succeed. were also making sure that this very expensive city is more affordable to more people. i know there's a lot of concern about that and we need to work on it. >> [applause] >> that's why i push hard on the housing trust fund that was passed last year creating one and half billion dollars, not million, one and half billion dollars to build more affordable housing in the next 30 years in san francisco. not stopping with that. to give mr. kelly and i are working very hard to re-envision a public housing, to note that sold housing. you know that's isolated poverty. you can't let that happen any longer. we've got to build mixed income housing and keep our promise to the residence. they're going to save housing housing networks, maintained for generations to come. not only is a promise we were doing that. we are doing that

that includes tens of thousands of san francisco resident, 10 thousand more that work in san francisco but do not live in san francisco, san francisco has been a huge success, all it takes to perceive for the future is to get the obama administration to recognize that it's a unique program and make some regulatory allowances unique for its design, this should not be controversial, healthy san francisco has a [inaudible] for healthy care reform and our national representative ares at the forefront of making the aca as strong as they could, but during this, we will ensure the health of san francisco remain a model for others to follow and doesn't allow us to enroll backwards. some people currently receive coverage through healthy san francisco will require for medi cal care and many will not, we estimate 3 to 4 million californians will remain uninsured even after the aca is fully implemented at the same time public hospitals will face cuts and dsh payment and the alignment fund, employers payment under health care sans fra*ns will be crucial. thank you, sir. >> thank you, sir, i'm going

now, speaking of the uninsured, the san francisco insurance will allegation be affected. the healthy san francisco has definitely helped some of the families in hunter's point bayview. we do have agencies like the southeast center, the bayview medical center and we have health fairs throughout our community but we need more outreach, we need our families to know how to obtain these services in insurance, so i want to see more outreach out in hunter's point bayview, and i'm sure you are aware in my community that we have a high rate of asthma, diabetes and cancer and also trauma, a lot of trauma related issues are in hunter's point bayview and this causes a problem with our children. i am an employee with the unified school district, and i would just like to see that the parents have more access of insurance and know the health benefits available to them because you must realize that good health is a conduit for closing this educational gap for children of color, so please keep this program going, it's very important for our community in hunter's point bayview, thank you.
