customers to san francisco. you recently -- or recently, yesterday, received a letter from two international organizations in the fur -- the -- the international fur federation and their american counterpart, suggesting the ability to look globally at this issue in terms of practices of the fur trade, both farming and how the fur product is handled. fur is sustainable. faux fur is not sustainable. we believe this legislation banning fur in san francisco will cost jobs, it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost revenue, both the sales and gross receipts tax to the city. it'll drive retail overall, not just for these products, but related customer visits to stores outside of san francisco. we are a fashion retail destination. if in fact this testimony says worldwide thinking on this is changing, then let's work globally to determine how these animals are raised, how they are processed for these products, and not ban locally a product sales that will hurt the entire retail community. this affects most d

so san francisco health plan is the public health plan that essentially provides medi-cal benefit for a medi-cal managed benefit and long-term care is outside of medi-cal. we serve 140,000 san franciscans but there are probably another 30-40,000 san franciscans outside of the plan that are in skilled nursing facilities or long-term care outside of managed care. >> supervisor yee: do you know what body actually -- do we have a body in san francisco that looks at -- or tries to coordinate that piece? >> that's a tricky question. so the benefit -- so that is a fee-for-service benefit and that is administered by the state of california. but you absolutely have a number of departments here that are concerned and help with the administration of long-term care. you have the department of public health runs a very large skilled nursing facility, that is a medi-cal fee-for-service provider, but it's different. you don't have a local entity because long-term care is a fee-for-service benefit. >> supervisor yee: thank you. >> supervisor safai: actually, i have a question, too. so you said this b

eric brooks speaking on behalf of the san francisco green party, our city and also public net san francisco. so i would want to give a big thumbs up to what you just raised and note that it's very, as i'm sure you all know, it's very imminent. we have cpmc-sutter health that is basically shirking a lot of agreements that it made with the public to properly serve, especially the area where st. luke's is at in the mission. we're getting a raw deal from cpmc, and so we need to do something about that, and it would be great to have a hearing next month about cpmc about all of it, and how to figure out how we're not going to let these nonprofits, and people who make millions of dollars a year in their own salaries, not giving san francisco the support it needs, especially when it comes to mental health beds, which continue to decline, except a couple of weeks ago there was one spot of bright news that we don't have enough. also on publishes, ownership of public resources, the public broad band internet issue is now very imminent. the mayor's office is going to move on it before mayor farrell lea

i do think it is extreme for san francisco. my since this bill is in the pro since, it hasn't gone to smithty. it can be amended. i urge amendments to ensure the value of additional height and debs city is re-captured and the existing neighborhood character is preserved. again, while i do respect senator wiener and his work and at the state level this particular bill is troublesome to me. some of the other clauses that i have here i wanted to share with the public is that san francisco has spent years working with communities on planning efforts resulting in affordable housing and infrastructure impacts. the board of supervisors is committed to working with other jurisdictions and tenant advocates to address the crisis by amending fb827. in the further clauses i wanted to urge the state leaders to fund affordable housing stream to address the housing crisis. that funding is a huge challenge. the last clause is board of supervisors will continue to monitor the progress and may provide additional comments as the bill is heard at
