san francisco is also where san francisco vision was developed. as a result of the successful summit between president--and president biden. when the vision is formulated it is up to all of us to take action to translate san francisco vision into reality and i think both mayor breed and mayor gong have set very good examples for us by exchanging visits within a month. mayor breed was in shanghai last month and this month we welcome mayor gong to san francisco. i think this is very meaningful action to turn the vision into reality and to follow through on what our two presidents agreed. i really hope more chinese and american mayors will follow their example. the more visits take place, the better our relationship. before i conclude, i want to say, two years ago today, i started my journey to san francisco to take my position as chinese consul general. over the past 2 years i worked hard and i have gone through challenges, so i like to take this opportunity to express my heartful felt gratitude to mayor breed, city hall, people represented here fro

however the impact of, the grf and the funding that san francisco could receive going through a san francisco green bank would have a much higher, impact in san francisco and its ability to issue funding as well as attract private funding, to these green initiatives that the green bank would be focused on. and as a reminder for us, the reinvestment working group outlined three priority areas for san francisco. after doing several focus groups, which are affordable housing, small business support, and ecological sustainability. these are specific and we in that work they outlined specific loan products that a potential green bank could offer san francisco that would support those priority areas. so once the epa and these national coalitions finalized their, application process, then either san francisco can apply, depending on on the department or as we are form, we form the san francisco green bank, the san francisco green bank itself could apply to these funds and receive capitalization and funding to do its work. so this wouldn't leave the entire capitalization funding stack burden on the c

san francisco's annual budget is about $14 billion. >> former san francisco mayor and current candidate for mayor, mark farrell, is revealing a plan to subsidize child care and expand child care facilities. farrell is challenging mayor london breed for her seat in the november election. he says voters approved a tax in 2018, and so far it's collected $400 million. that has gone unused. known as baby prop c, it was designed to provide early care and education for kids up to five years old whose families are low income. >> we will offer subsidies to help low and middle income parents and guardians afford local child care services. we will also provide low interest loans and reduce taxes and fees for property owners who repurpose their existing spaces, so we can create and expand the existing child care facilities, the mayor's office says. >> the mayor has used prop c funds. she's doubled the number of children receiving early care and education subsidies, cut the wait list for care subsidies by more than 70, and built or renovated 40 early care and education facilities in the last five ye

with sand the way that san francisco was and when you look at a map of san francisco have a unique street grid and one of the thing is those streets started off in extremely long piers. but by 1875 they know they needed more so the ferry building was built and it was a long affair and the first cars turned around at the ferry building and picking up people and goods and then last night the street light cars the trams came to that area also. but by the late 1880s we needed something better than the ferry building. a bond issue was passed for $600,000. to build a new ferry building i would say 800 thousand for a studio apartment in san francisco they thought that was a grand ferry building had a competition to hire an architecture and choose a young aspiring architect and in the long paris and san francisco had grand plans for this transit station. so he proposed the beautiful new building i wanted it wider, there is none tonight. than that actually is but the price of concrete quitclaim two how and was not completed and killed. but it opened a greater claim and became fully operational bef
