city's part. we as a committee are really unique because we are able to work with both the city of san francisco as well as sf usd and we want to get a wide scope as to what san francisco as a city is doing. thank you. if you have comments or questions, we would love to answer them. >> first off, on behalf of the council, on behalf of the staff. thank you so much for coming out here today. this is a really big step, i think and future partnerships between the youth commission and we really appreciate your consideration for stopping by today especially your patience and hanging out there. it was a very contentious day of discourse as you are aware of. we really appreciate your patience during this whole time. i just had a few quick questions. what input did you receive from students with disabilities specifically in your special education classes and what was your outreach to enforce the feedback? >> for us, all three of us in track directly with students who have disabilities outside of the commission. we kind of, this time our work is still continuing. right now we focused more on the students in

restaurants actually declined more slowly than the city as a whole in 2004, were actually added jobs despite the minimum wage increase. san francisco as a city was still recovering from the recession in 2004 and across the board there were job losses. but as you'll see in a moment, the job losses he were either slower than some of these industries or these industries actually added jobs despite a declining city employment base and despite the minimum wage increase. so, what we've tried to do here is adjust thea sort of raw employment change numbers, accounting for both what's going on in the adjacent counties in those industries and also in the city as a whole to get the kind of a net concept of how did the industry in the city do after the minimum wage was increased relative to what the same industry did in surrounding concounties and relative to what ever industry in the city did ~. for example, in 2003 and 2004 food services in the city increased employment by .5%edthv that was a good deal slower than the adjacent counties ~ which grew by 2%. but you have to factor in the fact that the city as a whole is declining 2.3% and the a

what specifically do you think that the city could do to change that situation as a matter of working with the san francisco school district, or matter with the city college and the sf state to change that up? >> so, i think that it comes with all levels and i think that if you, if you started at the high school level and the youth enrichment programs and like a pri and others, it is, and they or the students at that level, or especially in the under served communities like the bay view hunter's point yeah and how the opportunities are in the community and learn that they create the jobs and has the opportunity that it has in san francisco, and i think that opens their eyes to future potential. >> and one of the thing that i will mention is that there have been a lot of concerns about the challenges of african american students and residents from the bay view being able to get jobs in the tech community and we asked the trade association representing the technology companies in san francisco, to work with the boys and girls club particularly in the bay view, and in the fillmore and in the other under served
