a hearing to discuss the economic impacts and benefits of outdoor events for san francisco. and at my request the city economist conducted a study of the contributions of outdoor events such as festival and street fares for san francisco and that report as you will hear concluded that these outdoor events are a significant economic driver, for our city. while we have known for a long time that these outdoor events are a key part of san francisco's cultural fabric and a report shows that the massive economic benefit that the events have, for our city, and we now have hard numbers and we can begin to understand why it is so important to support these events. in 2014, outdoor events generated 1.1 billion dollars in economic impacts. and drew, 3.3 million dollars attendance whose spending supported 9300 private sector jobs. and of the 3.3 million event goers, 58 percent came from out of town and 85 percent of those out of towners said that they came in to san francisco specifically for the event. and in other words, 1.6 million people traveled to san francisco specifically to attend an outdoor event, whether it was massive event like san francisco pride, or the chinese new year'

san francisco is making a major drive to ease traffic congestion in the worse areas. our reporter joins us to explain. matt? >>> yes, san francisco seems to be getting busier and busier as the economy improves but now the city is targeting drivers who are blocking lanes bush treasure hour driving through san francisco can seem like a maze. cars trucks and even city vehicles are double parked making 9 commute longer and more dangerous. that is why the san francisco metropolitan transportation agency launched the new rush hour congestion strategy today. focusing on construction projects, double parking delivery trucks and cars blocking intersections. the message is: follow the rules this is part of our education to ensure that people are following the rules. we want to make sure that every motor transportation is moving as efficiently as possible. survive extra parking enforcement officers are deployed each week during the morning and evening rush hours. the goal is not just to help drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists are delayed and put in dangerous situations because vehicles are parked in their way. >> i was commenting for myself it seemed extra crazy this morning on the bike more traffic than normal. it b
