illustrate very concretely why san francisco is the best place in this nation and abroad to host the cup, that is the deal before us. it is a great deal for san francisco as longdering the kind of excess of responsibility that we were quite concerned about before. great questions were being asked by a number of our colleagues here to keep the negotiations on track, and they really helped contribute, i think, to the intellectual arsenal for us to make sure -- this is really unprecedented for something of this nature and size to come before san francisco. the city attorney's office has also been working around the clock in order to really be as agile as possible to doing something that no other city in the country or abroad has had to do, and that is negotiate in a transparent environment such as ours. italy and spain do not have to go through this. leaders of their government can advance the deal in more of a unilateral fashion. there is no other city in the united states that is really a contender or has been identified yet, and yet, we have been negotiating in the most transparent public way to be able to advance this dialogue and advance incredible proposal

san francisco bay area, i want to show you real quickly, as long as we're talking about that, some of seen very persistent, lengthy delays. san francisco international airport, it had been, until -- for about two hours, they are saying until 9:30 eastern -- or pacific time, but what we're looking at is quite a bit of wet weather. we have a live picture here coming out of san francisco, kgo. they can see the storm clouds lingering on the horizon. but if you were to whip up into the sierra-nevada mountains, it looks like a couple of feet of snowfall anticipated there. this is going to be a huge system with the forecast expected for the l.a. basin. very heavy rainfall. where you see this pink shaded area, we're seeing significant snowfall. you can see that as we go to the forecast snowfall totals over the next 48 hours but not just across the sierra-nevada. not just here. but into the wasatch across northern utah. the wind river, the siskiyous and into the cascades. that's a lot of territory, don, to be talking about. pretty much every mountain chean is expecting snowfall, especially the

san francisco. roughly 250 office buildings, the largest in san francisco. its members have long been involved in sustainable practices including energy efficiency. we have been recognized the last several years by the epa as their partner of the year. because of our practices. we also have a program that is sort of a recognition program that recognizes properties for sustainable practices. we have not been lake coming to the sustainability party. we have been leaders all along. we have worked at the very beginning of this process with the mayor's office and the department of the environment to make sure that it was something that was achievable, affordable, and was using industry standards so that there was no guesswork. i think we have done that with this legislation. our organization is supporting this legislation as it is currently constituted. several of the things we had concerns about initially, if a building is already benchmarking itself, it is already going through a lead certification process. would they be given credit? yes, they would be. would it allow for extensions? and would it be a rolling implementation deadline? it has also been included. can we do this in a shorter time? i don't think

san francisco will experience long-term benefits in infrastructure improvements, jobs, and ongoing revenues. i would look -- i would like to talk about another opportunity for san francisco. i can think of no other sport that is as successful to as many types of people as sailing. sailing does not discriminate on the basis of race, economic or social status, and is available to people with physical or developmental disabilities. there are huge sailing programs in our area that serve kids. there is a mix of able-bodied volunteers and disabled sailors that allows people with limited or no abilities to use lakes and to experience the exhilaration of sailing on san francisco bay. guide dogs wearing life vests are also on board during many if not most live sailing events. american poet and abolitionist john which your wrote -- wittier wrote -- let us make it happen. let us use this lifetime opportunity to encourage all to enjoy the activity of sailing. we have an opportunity to host the world oldest trophy sport in our own city. i urge you to support the america's cup in san francisco. supervisor mirkarimi: next speaker, please. >> i am a lifelong san francisco resident. i am here to support the host city agreement.
