you know, this evening is really the mayor's reception, the san francisco bay area mayor's reception. did you know that there are three women members of fwn and honorees of the 100 most influential filipino women are mayors in the san francisco bay area? yay. i want to call up here -- come on up here, mayor of hercules, california. she was in the summit in 2006. do you want to tell the story ? >> congratulations to the 100 most influential filipino women. i attended first in 2006. and i was a planning commissioner then and i wanted to quit politics. i hated politics. but the summit inspired me. and merilee kept saying we needed more women in visible and a mainstream positions in government, commissions, and councils. so i was recognized in 2009, a couple of years ago. i was inspired by mayor joanne el rosario and the other women mayors around. so last year, i decided to run. and i won in november, not even a year. and little did i know, i was running into a burning building. hercules was crumbling. in january, the mayor resigned, so i became vice mayor.

it's of massive importance to the people what comes in and out of san francisco bay. they can't see it where they are. they get the idea to build a giant wooden structure. the years that it was up here, it gave the name telegraph hill. it survived although the structure is long gone. come to the 1870's and the city has growed up remarkably. it's fueled with money from the nevada silver mines and the gold rush. it's trying to be the paris of the west. now the beach is the suburbs, the we will their people lived on the bottom and the poorest people lived on the top because it was very hard getting to the top of telegraph hill. it was mostly lean-to sharks and bits of pieces of houses up here in the beginning. and a group of 20 businessmen decided that it would be better if the top of the hill remained for the public. so they put their money down and they bought four lots at the top of the hill and they gave them to the city. lily hitchcock coit died without leaving a specific use for her bequest. she left a third of her estate for the beautify indication of the city. ar

bay area. our cameras were out earlier and the embarcadero in san francisco, a lot of folks are dusting off the umbrellas. haven't used them in about two weeks. the storm system is finally tracking a little close to the bay area. so we were able to squeeze out a few showers. this is a live look from our high definition golden gate bridge cam. as these showers continue to move inland, we will probably have some wet pavement for the monday morning commute. live doppler 7hd is showing you the moisture moving from the ocean and back toward the west. we will take you up to the north bay right now and you can see showers moving into the petaluma area and all the way down toward san rafael. these are moving from vaw knee shaw and rotating back toward the west. we are going to be in this counter clockwise circulation all nightlong as the low is centered off the coast. san leandro is seeing some rain. san mateo down to redwood city and even watsonville is picking up moderate rain. you can see it off the coast here. and this will swing in. we will look for the showers to continue to rotate in. temperatur

coast guard in a boat that stopped running, is the individual kind of activities that go on in san francisco bay those of us that had been on boats in the bay, with the coast guard has done a magnificent job. and just on a daily basis, not even talking about earthquakes or other types of activities, and helping the citizens of the bay area and also the other areas where the coast guard exists. >> thank you. in san francisco bay on any given week, we saved six lives. we do not do that by ourselves. we do that with our county fire department and the police departments that are by our side on the water. we worked very well together using all of our limited resources to actually execute that mission on a daily basis. i can say we are well-practiced on a regular basis, and that will certainly serve us well in a disaster. >> i would also like to add that -- and i know that the coast guard is going to be there right off the bat on the first responding to save lives, and that is valuable. i think the strength of the coast guard and all the other military organizations is their ability to do logistics. t

also still seeing 38 in antioch and livermore. 40s around the bay, 45 san francisco. r this morning, monterey bay foggy as well, monterey, watsonville, salinas and santa cruz and watsonville cool, monterey upper 30s. visibility is limited, you could find thick fog in some areas down to 1/4 a mile less in novato and 1/4 in napa. here's the story of the temperature change compared to yesterday. we are a good 12° warmer at this time in napa and even in san jose. we don't see freezing cold temperatures we saw yesterday. this morning look out for that fog and low clouds, partly cloudy afternoon and we are still keeping our eye on slight chance of rain in the north bay. doesn't look like it is going to bring us much precipitation. we are just watching it for now. we have this area of high pressure and a couple of storm systems in the pacific, moving towards our area with the jet stream and ridge keeping it north it means we are just going to get the tail end of these storm systems that means a slight chance of rain for our area mine mainly the rain will hit oregon -- oregon
