i flew back from the san francisco bay area to l.a. yesterday. the part of southern california you couldn't see the ground because there was so much smoke coverage. take a look behind me. this reminds me of tornados. it will hit one side of the street and the other side will be fine. that's what it is like here. we see holiday decorations on on homes. but the house burned down, the garage burning around this one home. the fire is still out of control. 150 buildings destroyed, burning over 50,000 acres. get this. at one point this fire was burning as fast as an acre a second. that is why they were saying for people they have to get out. tens of thousands of people being told they need to evacuate. some under voluntary evacuation as well. two fires in san bernardino county. and los angeles county as well. all of these fires being sparked because of the strong santa ana winds that come in the afternoon. right now it's calmer, but we are expecting it to get a little more dicey as we go into later on today. alisyn. >> stephanie, be careful. that video

> here's a live look at some of our busiest bridges in the bay area. this morning, there's a proposal for a new bridge to cross san francisco bay. right now, transit leaders are considering an idea that would add another bridge to the bay area to try to ease traffic. the proposal comes from diane feinstein, an east bay representative marcus. they are calling for another bridge to be built across the bay between the bay bridge and the san mateo bridge. caltrans has dubbed it the southern crossing. but others say it might not cut down as much traffic as expected. caltrans considered that idea before, but never moved in the past for some of those initial proposals. >>> reminder for you if you ride on b.a.r.t., it will cost you more in the new year. a nearly 3% increase takes effect on january 1st. the minimum fare will increase to $2 for adults, $1 for youth, and 75 cents for seniors. the minimum fare will increase $2.50, that is, officials say that their goal is to get more people to buy clipper costs. >>> b.a.r.t. gets back to talking tunnels today in which type of tunnel b.a.r.t. trains will run through in downtown san jose
