i am a commissioner with the san francisco board of education. last year, the san francisco board of education unanimously passed a resolution in favor of free muni for all youth. the governor is proposing not to reimburse us for any transportation whatsoever. free muni ensure that every student would have the means to get to school. add san francisco unified, we like to say the city is our classroom. in recent years, we have less of our children going on field trips to our museums, parks, historical sites because of the cost of muni to take all of the kids. i would be remiss to not bring to your attention that we have hundreds of students in our system who have turned 18 before they have graduated from high school. they depend on muni every day to get to school. they are full-time students. the majority of them do not work any job at all. we are getting them to graduate. san francisco unified is the top district in the state of california press school districts concerning test scores. i would ask for you to consider our 18-year-olds who are still

san francisco unified school district. teacher of the year, assistant professor of education at san francisco state university, board of education recognition of february 1998, san francisco alumni golden torch award, outstanding educator and 1995, and distinguished leadership plans in 1999. she is survived by her sister, her children, our grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. my last item is related to home to the dome. there was a famous poet, t.s. eliot who declared it april as the cruelest month. that was in the wasteland, but he realized in united states april is national poetry month. in honor of that, every year for the past seven years in city hall, we have had pelhams under the dome. i have a resolution declaring april 27 poems under the dome day in the city and county of san francisco. that will attract pellets from san francisco and across the bay as well. last year, we had one of our pilots -- when our poet laureates recite one of her poems and i'm honored to take part in helping to sponsor this event. colleagues, with your help, we could declare a great day and attract more people to a lovely of that. thank you

it was members of the san francisco board of supervisors who came to ask them to open san francisco general hospital, which they did. they ran it for four years until a very familiar thing happened, and that was the county board of supervisors had a dispute about how to pay health care bills. the sisters said we've had enough of that and went on to create st. mary's hospital. as you can see, very familiar with how the city works. even then, over 150 years. it is an important issue. we're glad to be able to provide it. we're glad to be able to be here and to recognize some super creative people and the super creative programs. the committee which reviewed folks and review projects had a tough time picking who should be chosen and who should be recognized. the list is fantastic. spur, of course, has worked for years and sponsor of this good government awards for a long time to make sure that the folks that work so hard that do not get recognized every day -- you do get recognized. firstly, from the business community, i want to say how proud we are to have you and how proud we are for the wor
