he was born in san francisco california. he was raised in puerto rico and his traditions of his family always had music and his studies of afro latin music have included trips to new york, puerto rico and columbia and brazil and i know the director of the theater of women in the arts will let you know he's playing in the days ahead. [applause] >> thank you very much wa wean. i want to say thank you to the mayor also, to the nominating committee. i also want to acknowledge my family, my inspiration. my father who passed away last week who was also a san francisco native. my mom in the hospital right now after a knee replacement and also a san francisco native. this means a lot for us. i know i speak for 99% of the latino and jazz musicians who are not playing commercial music whose photos are not on the covers of magazines or in the newspaper or not on television, and we play this

san francisco, dignitaries, lumnaries, the hall of famers, the ownership group, the coaching and training staff. today is ground hog day. we have the right to claim baseball heaven. this is the mecca of baseball, san francisco california. i think people forgot this team won 94 games in the regular season in a division that is probably as under rated as any division in sports. beat two excellent teams to win the national league and go on to detroit and unfortunately with detroit with all due respect they didn't know what they were in for. [cheers and applause] you fans, this city, this organization, this team wants all of us, or tries to make all of us better men, better people, better husbands, better friends. larry alluded to it the life lessons watching these guys perform everyday and we have a phrase for it "feeding the beast". this game is a rugged game and like life you need to put a lot into it and they became teammates and competed like nobody has seen. i am humbled to be part of this. i am so happy for all our family and friends and this is why we do this, and you folks will be etched in time and in history as one of the greatest teams not only in san francisco history but in baseball. born in san francisco california louis' mother was a war refugee and his father was a war refugee and settled in the mission district and exposed to street violence he would struggle everyday to stay alive and resulted in dropping out of high school for safety reasons and spent his adolescence in and out of juvenile custody. he has many years experience in this area. he was hired by the district attorney george gaston to lead the first alternative servicing initiative as a planner. he will help pioneer a new path and reducing recidivism and identify the needs of the defendant and advance public safety. his priorities are to reduce violent crime, work with the city's vulnerable communities and help individuals not reenter the system. he's a loving husband and father and proud neighbor in san francisco.
