. >> i would say that i was have much inspired since i lived in san francisco, california. we are a country of immigrants. in san francisco in particular, we have so many first generation americans. my husband is just became an american citizen a couple of months ago. i have friendlieds who are first generation from vietnam. palestine, israel. mexico, as i watch them struggling with their cultural identities and trying to maintain the identities and have the respect as the american citizens they are in this country, it got me to thinking about my family heritage and thinking about how history really does repeat itself. because i know that my people want through these same issues in the famine times when they came. and i thought to myself, why are not more of these stories being told? we need to collect these stories. i am at an age where my parents and their cousins, their siblings, they are getting close end of their life. one of the main ways i collect my information is through oral history i knew time was on the essense. there were stories that would be lost if i didn't c

fund jobs, housing, transportation and planning identified priority developments here in san francisco. california senate bill 375 adopted in 2008 requires each of california' region to prepare a sustainable community strategy that demonstrates how the region will meet greenhouse gas reduction targets through integrated land use, housing and rotation planning. last fall, the m.t.c. approved the direction of $20 million in federal funding for planning within priority development area throughout the bay area, the nine county was of the bay area. the san francisco planning department was identified as the recipient of san francisco share of those funds which amounts to $2.3 million through fiscal year 2015 and 2016. the plan department will work with other city agencies including the t.a., the m.t.a. and the mayor's office of housing to develop a work plan guiding the programming of these funds. planning is here if there are any questions. thank you. >> thank you colleagues supervisor avalos. >> thank you chair farrell. just a couple questions, i know that typically i've heard that typically, funding

regarding an incident so they feel confident to come to san francisco to talk about something that they've been tracking through the state of california. >> san francisco has been at the forefront of this. when kevin ryan was district attorney, he did something called operation human cage. i was prosecutor interviewing women who have been trafficked here from korea. it's right in front of us, all these massage parlors you go through in the city, in every neighborhood, have women in there who have been trafficked in foreign countries who are abused and battered on a nightly basis. having interviewed some of those people, we were down at moffat field housing 75 women rescued at that time. these women are more than battered, more than bruised, they are psychologically damaged for life. i don't think the public gets that. what more can we gt from the department of justice? last time we did it, it was done through the fbi -- actually the irs criminal investigation division took the money away. several homes were seized. there was ins, it was all the federal law enforcement agencies that were there to protect these women. is there any more
