for the past three years the city of san francisco has engaged in a blatant pattern and practice of discrimination. it has repeatedly violated my states under state and federal disability laws and its own written policies. time again the city attorney who has a sworn duty to enforce the law has advised the city to do things that against the law. in spite of clearly failed accommodations and multiple pleaos my part the city human resources' director and ada cord nailtors refused to meet with me and modify my accommodations as they are required to do by law. this for almost an entire year until i was made sick from paint exposure without advanced notification yet again this past april 2012 for the third time in three years. throughout this entire ordeal i made my appeals virtually known to every willful of government and i didn't have my rights or health protected. the city's behavior is reprehensible. it lied and covered up or seriously investigate or even to acknowledge or contact me regarding serious and documented claims of harassment and charges of discrimination as it is required to do under i

city for the same sex spouse or domestic partners. this legislation supports our lgbt community here in san francisco's -- san francisco and counters what is very much a discriminatory federal tax policy. and it provides a higher level of equality for same-sex spouses and domestic partners who work for the city and county of san francisco. currently city employees with same sex spouses or domestic partners elected to add their spouse or domestic partner to the health plan and additional federal tax is taken out of their paycheck. the federal government views health insurance coverage provided by same sex or domestic partners employers to be taxable income. therefore city employees in these situations are taxed more than other city employees simply because their spouse is of the same gender. this discrimination in our federal tax code has cost individuals affected by this tax thousands and thousands of dollars each year. and the number of city and county of san francisco active members with same sex spouses and domestic partners is close to 400. san francisco has always been a leader in supporting our lgbt community. following the exampl

(indiscernible) we have planned this for a while. the issue of graffiti -- not just san francisco but many other cities. all over the world. tackling this problem. let me start by saying we have a very beautiful city, 49 square miles, second most dense city in america. carmichael and we are taking care of the students but not only that, she is also across the san francisco city in the south east of san francisco, she was with the king for like 14 years as a professional and her first year as a probationary teacher there at the king. and i also would like to with her permission, pass to you the evaluation stellar evaluation of her teaching performance from that school. she is really an amazing teacher. with her permission, i want to share an excerpt from the summer evaluation, she has acquired great many strategies for engaging students in a quality that enfuses her classroom, is ten asty and a palpable belief that all students can achieve to high levels, okay? that is an amazing evaluation from her first year as a probationary teacher from her principal. strategis for engagement have included concrete incentive systems, a morning greeting that acknowledges students from multiple language backgrounds and regular connections to her students's parents, usually face-to-face, how many teachers do that >> she welcomes that and so that the home school link can ad r

this is a city that has "san francisco" values. we should stand up for values that are constitutional, that support individual rights, that are values that we know as a city. and i would encourage all of you to stand behind supervisor chiu. i would also encourage, if i may, to take this a little further. you know, you are already for the resolution planning to encourage members of congress and that's great. that's a tremendous -- a step in the right direction. but how about also encouraging the members of our state legislation to nullify the whole thing? i mean, we can. by law we can. we could go through the court system and this will take years, but i think the legislative process is there for people like you and me to stand up and say, hey, this is unconstitutional. we don't like it. and i would encourage all of you people here to take up this fight. thank you again, supervisor chiu. we are very he proud of you. >> thank you very much. san francisco railway. that he said would be the nucleus that would host the city. and san francisco gave further incentive to expand the city's network. a project by way of tunnel leading into chinatown by way of north beach. in december the first streetcar was driven into the tunnel. just two years after its berth, muni had added two lines. and k, l and m lines that span out from westportal. in 1928, the j line opened heading west to the beach. in 1944 san francisco voters finally approved muni take-over of the market street railway. by then motor bus and trolley bus improvement had given them the ability to conquer san francisco's hills. after the war most of the street-car lines would be replaced with motor or trolley bus service. in 1947, the mayor recommended replacing two lines with motor coaches. and it appeared that san francisco's iconic cable cars had seen their final days. entered mrs. cluskin, the leader to save the cable cars. arguing that the cable cars were a symbol of the city, and she entered a charter placed on the november ballot. it passed overwh
