will be co presenting today with camille from one of our partner agencies, the san francisco county transportation authority. and wire also joined by other members of the connect sf team. the san francisco municipal transportation agency or sfmta and doug johnson from the planning department. so, we know that this commission and the public are concerned about the city's transportation system and the city's future mobility. we can get ahead and make the effective and equitable transportation vision a reality. to plan for a future of great mobility, we need a detailed understanding of what is happening now, what we're forecasting for the future, and some of the gaps we needs to address in order to achieve the vision we set for the city. that's what i'm here to share with you today. the technical work we've done to understand our future. i'm going to give you a brief overview about connect sf and the statement of needs. what it is and what it's for. and then next i'll discuss the findings from the state of needs and after that we'll discuss next steps. we're not alone in planning for the future of transportati

(roll call). we have a quorum. >> next item please. >> clerk: chair report. this is an information item. >> this month we saw another round of coverage in the media of our tnc research after a paper by the university of kentucky was published in the journal of science advances. this data continues to inform our planning and policy work to help us target where to direct revenues for traffic safety and transit improvement should the voters pass the tnc congestion measure that i'm introducing today with mayor breed for the november ballot. yesterday, i was quite pleased to see reporting in the "san francisco examiner" that a california appeals court affirmed a lower court's ruling that uber must comply with the city attorney subpoena of trip data. they agreed they must turn over illegal parking, disabled access to driver pay and extent of excessive driving. lyfl has agreed to comply last year. while the tnc provide the data to the c

san francisco county transportation authority has released a number of reports on what is happening with the tmc's. that is not included in the general if you will information about what is going on, transportation wise. again, the data we are looking at is transit ridership, caltrain, bart, and what the census is estimating the motor to be. >> we did described in the report what we called rideshare which would be the more traditional carpooling has decreased by 26%. that is one of the main reasons why we are not getting as high vehicle occupancy as we would want in the downtown. there is more single person in a car trips because carpooling has been down. >> this is also a regional trend, if you will, too. >> do we have any data how the disruptive construction practices, in downtown, have contributed to making downtown less industry - - interesting retail environment. particular streets to be linkable to projects which have been around for a very, very long time including the unattractiveness of what it takes to maneuver around them and how they could potentially - do we have any data on

we appreciate the comments from the program manager of the san francisco county transportation authority. review representative. there was interest raised making sure the stakeholder group involve someone connected to the local community or located -- connected to the c.a.c. community. right now we are also getting feedback from them. enclosing, we are anxious for the robust feedback from the peer review groups, with meaningful data, that is specific, measurable, actionable , and constructs movement on the reopening of the center. i'm excited to hear about what maybe coming soon. and of course, progress with the d.t.x. and phase two. we mean -- we remain highly interested in making sure the cost for any repairs or passed on to the entities responsible, and not the public. that is it for my comments. >> questions from directors? thank you for the report. transportation, held its annual awards. the local chapter here and we had a number of our own from here in san francisco that were recognized. the executive director of our county transportation authority, tilley chang was recognized as woman of the year for the bay area. so a well deserved honor for her. our own annette williams who manages our accessible services program received the chapter's lifetime achievement awardment giving a recognition of her great work, in particularly her efforts in facilitating professional opportunities for women and minorities and people with disabilities. also from the m.t.a., danielle harris was presented with a rosa parks diversity leadership award for promoting diversity, inclusion and multi cultural awareness within the agency and within the industry in general. so great honors for a number of san francisco women by their colleagues from across the bay area. and last, i want to end on a unfortunate note. we lost a valuable members of our family on june 6th when sulu polega passed away. i think she worked for the city for something like 40 years starting out working under mayor brown and worked in those days advising a number of city departments as

county of san francisco. i would like to express my profound disappointment in the deadlock vote at the san francisco municipal transportation authority where my constituents, our constituents, spent their time today. i would like to express my disappointment with commissioners eakin, brinkman and rupky for not understanding the fine grain nature of the city and county of san francisco, from not understanding who are extents constituents are, but i will not leave this alone and colleagues, i apologize to you, for this will continue. and with that, i commend this resolution to all of you. i thank almost every single one of you who have affixed your names to this instrument and i ask for your support. >> thank you, supervisor peskin. let me say a few words here. i actually grew up in -- i was born and raised and grew up in chinatown. i worked most of my adult life in chinatown in organizations to try to make things better for our children and families there. and in many ways, my road to community work started almost the same time as rose pak, when she started our activism in chinatown. we were both from but didn't cross paths. so i don'

san francisco's chief concerns, traffic congestion. in other words, we went to the state to get permission to ask the voters for permission. our county transportation authority did a deep dive into the available data that confirmed what we have witnessed anecdotally, and we all know and have heard about from our constituents, namely that t.n.c. companies are making up a considerable amount of the traffic that is clogging our intersections, crosswalks, and bike lanes. we all know congestion in san francisco is terrible, and everyone needs to be a part of the solution, including t.n.c. companies, users, and everyone in this city. it requires strategic investment from all of us that get people out of their cars, on to public transit, and safely walking and biking. whether it is funding more public transportation, it takes shared investment. and together i hope we can finally take a step forward in that direction. i want to profoundly thank my chief-of-staff, sunny ann gulo, and the mayor's office, and andrews power for working so closely with my office to craft this measure, and thank my colleagues for all of your co-sponsorship, and i want to thank the city at
